depending how far along you are. If it is done in the first trimester (before 12 weeks) there are no problems, but if you go past it becomes more dangerous and more complications, before 12 weeks they do a proceedure similar to a d&c where they dialate the cervix alittle then use a vacume to suck out the embryo, but after 12 weeks they must be alittle more agressive by using saline solution and possibly inducing labor where a woman goes into labor and exspells the fetus. I would never recommend an abortion past 12 weeks. If you have not made up your mind by the 12th week of pregnancy if you want to terminate or not you should not be alowed to abort, I have seen babies born at 24 weeks (6months) born 1lb 4oz surviving they are very small and their feet are as small as a Ken doll's feet. Their eyes are fused shut, and their skin is fragile, transparent and shinny.

"It doesn't hurt the kid" is absurd. In the face of such an awesome power as nature creating life it's always best to be a bit conservative. Truth is, no one really knows what the child "feels" and doesn't feel. Our methods for measuring such things are pretty clumsy.
Facts only?
Nothing is 100% safe so the physical risks detailed already, perforated utuerus, scar tissue forming to prevent later -desired- pregnancies, infections, issues with clotting, these are all very real.
The guilt comes later. Frequently, much later....like ten, twenty, thirty years. Unless you choose to lie, every time you go into the hospital to deliver a child, on the birth certificate it will ask how many times you've been pregnant, and how many of those children are living. It's not a matter of IF an abortion will haunt you, it's only a matter of WHEN...

Depends on the type of abortion. RU-486 induces painful cramping and heavy bleeding, although it is the safest method, and is given very early in pregnancy. A D&C can put you at risk for a perforated uterus (poking through/damage to the lining of the uterus) which can cause infection. This method can be used into the second trimester.

If it's not correctly done, you may have infection. It's not much of physical anyway, psychological aspect would nave the greatest impact. I read a book about it, some women confessesd having bad dreams, some experience tinnitus (hearing babies cry) d/t guilty feelings that emerge.

as long as its done by a professional (real doctor) your physical body should be fine... but there are many women who suffer emotional breakdowns wondering what could have been of thier child, it seems that an emptiness is left in your soul.....its only what i've read, from individual testimonies.

Will only affect you emotionaly or you could end up with scard tissue what would make it harder for you to become pregnant again totally against that.
