I have and old internal hard drive that I have put into a case to use as an external hard drive but I can't access it b/c it won't pick up as an additional drive. It was/is password protected so I went through safe mode to access the file and allow control but when I rebooted it didn't register the external drive at all. Is there a way to have it register the drive and still access the old files?

You'll have to reformat the hard drive, since it wasn't yours to start with. After it's reformatted, don't password protect it. Or leave it alone, if it's your roommates.

Make the hd a master drive. If you have a cd player you will have to make it a slave drive. u will have to format the hd and re program it.
