May 20 - May 21, 1927. Charles A. Lindbergh flies Ryan monoplane, Spirit of St. Louis, in first solo transatlantic flight and first nonstop fixed-wing aircraft flight between America and Europe mainlands, 3,600 nautical miles (6,667 km), from New York City to Paris, in 33 1/2 hours.

1978 - time was cut to 3 1/2 hours.
