I mostly just want my own for my iTunes and LimeWire so it doesn't slow down the family computer. I also like picture and video editing if that makes a difference. I'm sure with computers, you get what you pay for, but what's the most reliable one to get for a reasonable price?

As usual, it's difficult to answer with a vague question like this, but... I'll try:
Given that you want a machine to mostly run ITunes, and LimeWire - my recommendation is to get a MacBook. This will leave you immune to all windows based virii, most malware, etc. The new macbooks are screaming fast - and get great battery life.
And, trust me, ITunes is far better supported on OS-X than anywhere else - remember it's an Apple product. With the newest Intel based ones, you can even run Windows when you need it.
Oh, and with the bundled iLife suite? you've got your picture editing, movie editing, movie capture, DVD burning (to dual-layer DVD no less) all handled..

Well, the best computer for what you want to do is the computer that comes with the most and best software to do those things. If the software doesn't come standard, you gotta buy it, and software is very expensive.

ACER computers are the top of the line and i use three of them after i had experience with compaq and a gateway. look at the price versus the ram.cpu speed.and battery life on laptops.and look at the warranty and support. u need two years of warranty support and upgrades.

That may help you decide. I just know Gateway is the best because most college students & teachers reccomend it. Plus I have one too. I have the NX100X. & I love it! <3
