AVG is perfect. I used to have Norton - and it did nothing but slow down my computer. Now AVG takes care of everything. If you want a firewall go ahead and put it up - but be aware that you have to take it down for some sites if you want to receive full content.

No, all PCs online with high-speed should have a firewall. I prefer ZoneAlarm but most people would tell you that the XP firewall is sufficient enough. I personally wouldn't use the XP one because it is made by windows and could have security flaws just like Internet Explorer.

You will certainly be more secure with a firewall. As it blocks spying on you by other users on the internet. Windows defender is a free firewall by microsoft. It is the best firewall for windows XP.
Another alternative is Zone alarm, link below

Windows xp has a built-in firewall that works well.

The best firewall is a router (such as a linksys box). Zero traffic reaches your machine from the net unless you let it.

If you have dial up, anti-virus protection may be enough. However, if you have broadband you will definitely need a firewall. Even if you just have dial up, I would recommend anti-spyware too. Actually, the anti-spyware on the Yahoo toolbar is pretty good, if you decide to use one.

Some people find firewalls annoying so they do not use them. So no you don't aways need a firewall. Depending on what you do with your PC you might not ever need one. I recommend you getting a firewall on your P.C.

I suggest getting a firewall asap. Windows XP comes with one, but more never hurts.

hi, avg is a nice software for remove the virus.

i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:
