I don not understand how people can be soo cruel but here is something that I blogged:
We were going through towns and Pittsburgh and all of a sudden Michele says "lock all of the doors and windows!" I said why and Mel's cousin said that we were in "Jiggiville." Michele was like "Some black ppl are nice and some are just rude!" Yes we were in a bad town, but it's not like the whole town is gonna shoot her just b/c she's white or somthing! Then, I called my mom to tell her that we had just left. I said that we were in Jiggiville and she like screamed in my ear(she wasn't yelling at me.) When I got home that night she asked me why I said "Jiggiville." I said b/c that's what everyone in the car was saying(even the 7 year old.) Then she told me that is was rascist. I kinda thought that because I had seen a sign that said Swissvale. Michele had actually told her 7 year old daughter that it was called Jiggiville! omg I went in my room and cried. Damn racists!

I hate it! How can ppl do tha

people are racists for so many reasons, some are just plain stupid and will always judge others to make themselves feel better or bring themselves (or their race) to a better light. Some are afraid (for the same reason above). Some are brought up that way and don't know any better and don't venture out beyond their own backyard to know what the world is really like. and those brought up that way sometimes refuse to change because for them, change is scary. For some, something tramatic happened to them and now associate that race with that action (kind of like people who are afraid of dogs because a dog bit them when they were small). Humans are very finicky and skittish creatures.

for the one that said because they give them a reason to be racists, 3 letters for you...KKK which is still alive and well in america..let's not forget skinheads and as minority people move into "their territory" you hear more and more stories of people turning up dead.

were I lived before, I used to hear of so many black people turning up dead by the side of the road in this one particular area (probably about 30 miles from where I lived) and couldn't understand why till I looked up some maps on the internet and came across a map that showed where the KKK and skinheads lived. It turned out that that area where the murders were happening was a mecca population of KKK and skinheads.....so it's not just black people, mexican people, middle eastern people that give cause for people to be racists....whites do to.

Every race experiences racism...even white....but you can't rack your brain trying to figure out why people act the way they do or you'll go crazy. The best advice I can give is DON'T be judgemental, get an education, be willing to learn about other cultures and religions and be open to people's personalities. Cause even if you don't agree with something, you can understand it and when you understand, you'll be less likely to judge.

As much as I hate to say it, my parents were racist. Well you can probably imagine that it was passed along to me also. But then something happened. As I got a little older I started meeting and becoming friends with people of color. When I went to college I was assigned a black roommate, and he turned out to be one of my closest friends. Now I'm older, have a business with employees. Last year, one of them invited me to march with them in the Martin Luther King day parade which I proudly did.
I guess what I'm trying to point out is that little by little people are changing. As the society becomes more educated and exposure increases things will change. I am confident of this.
Unfortunately, it's the kind of thing that will take time, maybe even generations. All I can ask for is patience and understanding.
Do your best to not let it affect your happiness.
Be an example for others.

A lot of people have these misconceptions, but I can tell you first hand, your probaly more likely to get struck by lightining then getting shot by some blood or cript. Its funny though, growing up I was very much a geek, I think I got my *** kicked more in my hometown of prodominitly white Levittown, NY, then I ever did in neighboring, mostly black & latino Hempstead, ny

I wish I had an answer to your question. I would change things if I could. I try (on yahoo answers) but people don't use logical thinking as a basis for their beliefs. People believe what they want to believe, in order to justify the way they act, and the way they act is often guided by whatever is easiest, or gets them the most for free.

Easy, some people are just stupid as hell; they just go along with everyone else and they can't really tell you why they're racist. Hey, common sense isn't something that racists have a lot of!
