Good answers...makes me feel better. Mine hurt my feelings regarding something I made for my son. She actually called up and apologized today. I guess she gets points for that.

Actually, she's my ex mother in law and she said many rude things to me while I was married to her son but one very cruel remark stands out.

I had a stillborn son. We had just gotten back from his funeral and were sitting around in the family room visiting. (Mind you, I had just gone through a birth & a death and was rather frazzled).
Mother in law looked at me & said "Well, if you hadn't exercised during your pregnancy & put your legs up over your head doing all those gyrations this wouldn't of happened." The whole room went silent with shock. I quietly stood up. She stood up. I walked over to her, jabbed a finger in her chest, backed her up to a wall & said, "Don't you EVER say such an ignorant, stupid, old-wives-ttale thing again to me or anybody else for that matter. You have absolutely no idea of what you're talking about and have now made a complete fool of yourself in front of all these people. I hope you're proud of yourself." I then informed my husband it was time to go, so we did. Do you know he did not defend me but stuck up for his mother? Guess that's one of the reasons why we're DIVORCED!!!
(ps-for my own sake I forgave her but it was hard)

Why haven't you found work yet?
This was said, while I was recovering from surgery, of a fistula-an-ano, basically, it's an abcess on the hind quarters, about the size of a baseball, that's filled with bacteria from your colon, and at the time, i was taking 3 types of antibiotics, and painkillers, so i wouldn't have to go to the hospital, and take intraveinous anti....after 3 months, I was well enough to eat regular food again.

My mom-in-law has never said one bad thing to me, Not while my husband and I were together, not even when we split up. The only thing that came close to being rude was "You really ought to think about coming to Kingdom Hall with us" That's when I told her straight out that "I don't want anything to do with a religion that would allow a baby to die, when all that baby needed was a blood transfusion" After that, she hasn't said anything more about it.

Well, my mother in law wore a white lacy dress to my wedding, and she asked me if I would mind if she wore white...

I said yes - and she wore it anyway.
