Not all wounds completely heal. Some wounds leave scars that last forever, but most get better with time.

The reason you have THERAPY is to "re-heal" or pull the scabs off of the old wounds so that they can then "heal properly."

This is why going thru therapy is so hard and painful a process. In essence you have to re-live your entire existence as far as your trauma goes. Once you go thru therapy however, and the pain heals, it is "better" in the sense that you've gained some "control" over the pain. You've confronted it, found out the source and decided it can't hurt you now that your an adult!

We are choosing to define ourselves by our emotional baggage and we are afraid, that if we actually let it all go, let it go completely, then we will disappear into the nothingness that we see as ourselves.

And just like it took time to pack those emotional suitcases, it will take time to give each piece out, to help others, to rise above, to extend ourselves, to let go, and to live.
