I have been bitten by a lot of things, but not by a grasshopper. I was curious after reading your question, so I did some checking up on the Internet and this is what I found:

Grasshoppers and locusts can bite their foods which are plants. They usually don’t bite, but during locust swarms in Africa, people are bitten.

Locust is the name given to the swarming phase of short-horned grasshoppers of the family Acrididae.

Locusts are grasshoppers that are capable of swarming under certain conditions. The origins and apparent extinction of certain species of locust—some of which reach 6 inches (15 cm) in length—are unclear.

Locusts are also defined as: A migrating family of grasshoppers that eat everything in their path, so I guess that would cover biting as well. The biting sounds like a family thing.

Yes. Been bitten by a grasshopper once myself when I was handling it. But they don't bite you normally. Obviously I provoked it.

"I can't flat out say "No, grasshoppers don't bite", they hardly ever do, but they may in rare and unique circumstances use their jaws on a person. Grasshoppers have strong spines on their hind legs which they may use in self defense, though a human can hardly feel them during normal handling."

You either have to be a plant or do something stupid like stick your finger in its jaws. Grasshoppers don't just hop up and bite you.

WOW! I was going to answer with a smart a_ _ answer, "No", but I found out otherwise that I guess they do bite. I've never heard such a thing.
