I found out only today and i consider myself fairly knowledgeable in world affairs.

Why are so many Americans misinformed and FOLLOW exactly what their Administration and commercial media tell them?

I am asking this because some person asked whether or not America is a 'fascist state' and some other person answered 'move to Iran' 'Terrorist'.

Since when did Iran become a 'terrorist' country? and why are SO many Americans very ignorant?

Quote from Time.com

President Mohammad Khatami set the tone for Iran's reaction with a statement that in Persian rang with deep compassion: "On behalf of the Iranian people and the Islamic Republic, I denounce the terrorist measures, which led to the killing of defenseless people, and I express my deep sorrow and sympathy with the American people."

"Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei condemned the attacks which have been blamed on Saudi-born Osama bin Laden. "

Someone said Iran was a terrorist country before 1979?

If i do the math that was '27' years ago. The last time i checked it was after 1979 they took the picture of Ronald Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam Hussein, right?

I had heard this. I have never met an Iranian in America that I didn't think a wonderful person. Unfortunately, I do believe they are in a country run by a horrible government. That is, in fact, one of the reasons Iran hasn't been invaded. People believe there will be change from within. The Iranian people are not as fanatical as their government in any way. They want to live in peace. However, that doesn't change the fact that the Iranian govenment finances terrorism and continues to try to make a nuclear weapons against the UN Security Council. It's sad all around.

You point out a key difference between the Iranians and their leadership. The general Iranian has no problem with America, yet, the Islamic clerics and other people in power have many problems with America.

In fact some American customs trickle to Iran (such as Valentine's day) and have to be celebrated discreetly for fear of the Islamic Clerics.

http://www.pbs.org/frontlineworld/blog/2006/02/valentines_day.html

So what everyone should be taking from your post is that the leadership of Iran hold sway over a powerless people, who, if given the choice, would rather be friendly with America.

Its too bad their leader won't allow them to be. Instead he's trying to get them nuked.

And though you quote the Iranian president at the time of 9/11, they since have a new president named Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who is a radical and does not like the Unites States.

SO the Iranian leadership has changed since 9/11, and accordingly their foriegn policy, hence the US administration's view toward the current state of affairs in Iran.

Nothing is being swept under the rug here, you just have to know who the stake holders are and put the pieces together.

Here's the deal. Most Iranians (around 85%) love the United States for it's culture and for it's being the best damn country on the planet. The problem is, the leaders of Iran belong to a slim majority of the population that is extremely hard line Islam. If Iran's government represented the will of the majority there, none of this would be happening.

The trouble with Iran is it's current Islamic Government. Iran actually has a good bit of diversity, mostly in it's cities. Iraq was similar in many ways. They both have or had some thriving and modern areas. They both have a good amount of natural recourse's as well. These countries should be the thriving. Fundamentalists have hurt the prosperity of both. Saddam was not a fundamentalist but one reason he ruled with an iron fist was to control the the Sunnis and the Shiites

I understand what you are saying. Our citizens have been dumbed down by the government think tanks, as a stupid people are easile misled, and will believe whatever the government tells them. Technology was purchased from Japan after the Japanese television stations aired a cartoon with battling robots in an attempt to show our government that the technology worked. They put tens of thousands of their own children into seizures with the signals sent through the television sets to their viewers, showing members of our government that the technology which makes people basically spineless, and destroys the ability to learn by inhibiting the higher centers of the brain, and can be transmitted with television programming, and goes unnoticed by most viewers. The system works because the signal matches the brainwave frequency of the viewers, which, in America is 60 hertz. In Europe, the frequency is 50 hertz. THese signals are also being modified to be sent over the internet as well
I do not believe our governments bulls***, about anything! I also watch for sites that show the truth. I seek truth in all places, and listen with an open mind to the positions of others. I will check out the site, and seek there as well. All I ask of anybody is that they think, not take any's word for anything. Good luck, and I bid you peace:)

It makes some experience. Al Qaeda is a Sunni company, even with the undeniable fact that they don't hate Iran as a lot as they do the U. S., and Iran would not hate them as a lot because the U. S., they do nevertheless hate eachother. easily, there became a superb outpouring of help for united statesa. from it really is muslim enemies. Longtime terrorist, PLO chief, and Nobel Peace Prize winner Yassir Arafat /cried/ for the sufferers of 9/eleven on international television. The attack had basically basically exceeded off, it became more desirable effective than anticipated, NATO had invoked it really is common-protection clause. And, no one, no longer even the most professional-terrorist chief, had to seize an American nuke. For a short at the same time as there, the international held it really is breath, questioning what the 'drowsing sizable' might want to do. Then, it finally replied to the devestating attack on it really is own soil through dropping nutrition on Afghanistan. so all of them went decrease back to brazenly hating the comprehensive devil.

I knew that. But. I actually read the vast majority of the news i get.

We had most of the world praying on out behalf.

So much capital squandered by this current administration. We missed a very special and unique opportunity to really squash global terrorism.

One that may never come again. Because believe me the next terrorist strike in US soil will NOT gain us the support and empathy on such a global scale. Many former supporters will think that we got what we deserved.

Yes and also in the following:

Russia
France
England
Indonesia
Turkey
Costa Rica
Italy

And many more all over the world!

It was an amazing come together as one! So much could have been accomplished for peace. Instead the Bush administration used it for political purposes. They blamed the wrong country and attacked it. Now we have created enemies all over the world!

What's even more dangerous it that many people still believe what's being told to them.

All what's going on politically is a very very very sad state of affairs. I am extremely concerned about our country, its people and our freedoms!

Maybe since the late seventies when they attacked our embassy and held everyone hostage...... or maybe it was when they started supplying Hezbollah with explosives and weapons..... The fact is that many Americans choose to be ignorant..... ignorant about the ability of these nations to attack us again, and many are so ignorant that they believe if we do nothing they will leave us alone.... Most of the average Joe citizen's of the world were shocked and saddened by the 9/11 attacks.... but many people live in oppressed societies where dictators and clerics keep them poor uninformed and ignorant..... compared to the people of these dictator and socialist controlled countries Americans are infinitely more well informed.... and many of the rulers see us as a threat to their power over their people (we are). This is why we must stand up for what is right in the world ...freedom and democracy.... most of the worlds people are good people and deserve to be free and prosperous.

That is the problem that I have tried to stress in here before. All Iranians are NOT TERRORISTS. It's just the fanatics that are causing all the troubles in the world. All Afganistans are NOT TERRORISTS, it's the religious fanatics that cause the troubles of the world.
Everyone in the world that hates our country think that all our citizens are responsible for all the bad policies of our leaders and business leaders, when it's just the polititions causing all the troubles. I love my country, but I am sick of the covert operations and sneaky crap our leaders are pulling. Put the blame where it should be placed-on the crooked, power hungry polititions of this world.
