You will just be the smallest again. Some upper classman might try to intimidate or snow you by telling you BS (like some seniors in the marching band told me dead serious that the female drum major would give oral sex if I just asked. Fortunately I did not believe them, but if they had said something a little different, like maybe that she always hands out candy bars to new people and I should ask for one, I might have bit.
Otherwise, same deal. Oh, I guess you might have final exams that cover the whole previous semester of a class. That was intimidating but you will survive it. Good luck and try your best to relax.

Walk in there like you own the place. If you show fear people will sense it. It is just like the world after high school, if you show weakness they will pounce but if you show that you respect yourself people will respect you. I felt the same, MANY years ago, and I had been threatened when I got to high school they were gonna kick my butt, but it never happened. School is of course very social, but the real reason you are there is to LEARN and prepare yourself for the working world. Put yourself as #1 and that means your future. Go learn, have fun make new friends. Nothing in life is easy and you may have some hard times, but you probably have at least fifty or sixty more years to live, and you can not do it as well in fear as you can with the courage to be yourself and focus on what you need to do to make a good life for yourself. We all feel afraid, some are just better at pretending that we don't. You will be OK if you put yourself above what any other person thinks. This is your life not theirs, so you are in charge of how it turns out.

In a way it is easier. My son went from Ds & Cs in MS to As and Bs in HS. Both semesters in the 11th grade he got straight As. He is learning disabled and always worked long hours to do his best, so you can imagine High School, with so many career courses that are strictly mainstream, would be a serious challenge for him. But HS was his best years.
Here is how it is easier, you get to take some subjects that you love, you excel in them because of it, this undermines all the self-doubt generated by daily errors in your other classes. You know how it is, you make 1 mistake in the first 10 minutes, then in the next 5 minutes you make another 1 or 2, pretty soon you give-up believing in yourself and then you are making mistakes right-n-left. 9th grade will be good, 10th will be better and by the 11th you have even more electives. If you don't get the 12th grade disease ("arrogance" and "coasting through the 12th") you will do great!

High school is actually really fun just don't get your self into trouble or don't mess with the higher grade students. Trust me you'll have fun and the best part is that you will meet new people and make new friends. At the same time you will create memories. Just don't stress about it. You'll be fine and well high school to me is fun and adventures because there is more people and new things to expect. Just have fun and relax about it. Nothing bad will happen to you at all. You'll just have a great time. Everyone at first who is a freshman stresses about it and gets all nervous, but as soon as the breeze hits you in the face you will enjoy it. Well I wish you luck and when you go to sleep just don't think about it :)
Ciao and take care. I hope you have a great time lol :)
P.S: Try to join sports and clubs to make your high school year a great year because then high school will just be bore. I wish you luck and the best to come.

Look for smiles. Look for friends. Look for others who also seem scared and give them a smile or be their friend.
I wasn't scared to go to high school, but did dread it, like a prison sentence.
Take mental note of the roudy and rough ones and steer away from them at every opportunity When older students give advice, follow it with caution. They were lied to and humiliated when they first came to school and now it is their turn to return the favor on the unsuspecting. Be sure to laugh when you discover that they gave you wrong directions. You'll get the hang of who is lying and who is helping soon enough. But if you never get the name of a single student, get all the info you can on your teachers, aides, counselors, and such. If you run afoul of dangerous people they are the ones you should seek out early. The social system of children is vicious and cruel, the adults are trying to keep things civil, so they are your real first friends, if you make them. You'll be fine.

Darling, all those who pass through school in general go through this period of life you are experiencing, expect that there will be those who perhaps do not like you, make fun of you (the way you dress or act), laugh at you try to push you around, and even mock you and try to convince you to do wrong things so that you fit in with the crowd.
I encourage you to stand your ground, and do what you have to do in order to stay strong.
That's the worst to expect.
There will also however, be those who like you and want to be your friends. Those who look up to you and want to see you succeed. This is high school and maybe with every year it will get little tougher.
All of this is being done to prepare you for the big world. So don't be afraid, cause good or bad you are not alone. I went to high school too, and there are my others who have passed this same road you are passing now.
Keep that in mind.

I was scared too when I started High School. I was one of the shortest guys in my class and knew how it felt to be picked on. I was also shy, quiet and felt intimidated by high schoolers more than a foot taller than me.
But u know, life gives u so many unexpected turns. There will be peers who sympathize with how you think and feel. Before you know it, your 4 years will be over.
The most invaluable thing I took away from high school were friends. I am not talking about having a few hundred people on your myspace. Cherish the few friends you have who you can talk to about anything, go anywhere with, and who you will be spending time with even in college and when you're in the working world. Take chances, join clubs, say hi to people who you would like to get to know..chances are they are just as shy but would like to get to know you too.

It is an adjustment to go to High School.
My daughter is facing the same thing.
I am sure your friends are feeling the same nervousness. It is natural to feel this way. Take it one day at a time - see if you can check people in your same class and walk with them. See if you know anyone that went there before to show you the rules and ways. She wanted to walk the school to figure out where to go...this is a good idea so you will know where things are....bathrooms. water fountains, stairs, gym, etc.

I think as long as you be yourself then it'll all fall into place, remember you're in a big group of kids that are now the small fish in a big pond. Before you know it, you'll be into the grove of school and the year will be half over.
Good luck, I know how you feel kind of, my daughter started Jr. High this year and I'm a wreck.
