in northeast tx. its tornado alley but most of the interuptions are about storms with no potential twister, they just want you to know its raining hard where you are. and of course for the short break ins they always wait after the commercials so you can miss a show.
here,a few weeks ago with big brother a slow car hijacking was being shown. abc had a double screen, but cbs wasn't even showing the live chase because their helicoptor was refueling.I was so angry because we were all missing big brother and they were showing pointless footage of nothing happening.
in the days of the big dish satellites it was great because you could turn to a different city's feed(and still could if you had one)
that day of the chase I tuned into an antenna channel from a different town and didn't miss the whole thing.
your comments on the scrolling bottom are identical to here. I remember when they only cut in if there was an actual warning and lives were threatened.
I know how you feel

maximum persons have our own opinion on the elements. right here in London it really is the first problem said at the same time as assembly a stranger. Londoners are obsessed on the elements. and also you'll guess your sweet existence that none human beings might want to be inspired once you're saying, "day after today will be sensible warmth and sunny" and then the thunder clouds seem at about 11am and down it comes. Stuff occurs.

wow... i thought that was an oklahoma thing!!! i've noticed an increase in weather breaks more often in the last coupld of years. i remember as a kid just seeing the scrolling message at the bottom of the screen. i guess more and more people are illiterate.... seriously, though, i agree with you. there is no reason why they should break into something you are watching for weather as often as they do.

I think after what happened last year, local weathermen are probably more antsy when it comes to any changes in the weather.
But in the case of tornado warnings and watches, even though I hate my show being pre-empted, they have to get the word out.
