If you were planning to go on vacation to Maine, what places would you visit?

Drive along the coast. Not on the main road but rather down the peninsulas that are along the coast. Go to Bar Harbor and see Acadia National Park. Discover the first light of day in the Continental US from Cadillac Mtn. Go seek out the lighthouses along the coast. If you are really adventurous go try to cross the state up north where there are no roads. Climb Mt. Katadin. Find Bob's Crab Shack just north of the NH border near Wells. Have a lobster dinner at one of the shacks along the coast and don't forget to order steamers. Try wild blueberry pie. Leave the cities behind. Visit George H.W. Bush's place near Kennebunkport. That should keep you busy for a few days anyhow. Have a great trip!

Lots of wilderness, Baxter State Park, Bar Harbor, Portland, and a beautiful coastline drive. At Freeport you can visit the DeLorme map and geographic headquarters. If it's still open, visit the Maine Prison store just outside of Freeport. It has items made by inmates that are unique and useful.

Maine is not the kind of state to just wander a bout........here are some great places....if i were satying a week......I would make Boothbay harbor my spot........so quaint......go just after labor day....stay in a B and B...........with a harbor view....spent a day touring the harbor by boat...lighthouses................take a side trip to NH white mountains.........Kangamancus highway.........Franconia notch.......................The flume ( not to be missed..................Boothbay has great seafood...............catch a glimpse of the BUSH compound..........Boston is less than 4 hours

trees, and scaary looking people. but nice scenery and nice looking people...... its a bit like...canada...so its boring to me ( im from canada... yes) i like to go some place different. its not my fav state.... sorry!
