There are 2 great exercises to get rid of gas.

With the knee chest position go down on all fours and put your chest to the ground (your rear will be in the air) and rock yourself back and forth.

Another position is to lay with your back on the floor. Bring one leg (bent) up to your chest and back down to the floor again.

Repeat.

This should have you passing gas and will relief that gassy feeling.

I have had good relief from gas pain with tablets containing charcoal (which absorbs the gas) and simethicone. I assume the gas problem is a result of diet - talk to a dietitian or doctor about it. I can't comment on the dialysis as i have no experience of it.

You asked what is the cause of the gas pain. The trapped gas is putting pressure on the given section of your lower intestine. Pain anywhere usually stems from swelling or inflamation. Your bowel becomes distended from the gas and the pressure from that causes the pain. As the other poster suggested, repositioning yourself will help, as well as any of the OTC meds.

I'm not sure I understand your question your asking is it normal to have a gas pain in a dyalisis patient? How do you know it is a gas pain. I usually try to lay in different positions to try and shift the gas. next time you go for dialisys you should mention this.

You really need to talk to your doc or pharmacist to see what is the safest OTC or Scrip for you to use. Until then, try a little white soda to get things "moving". Gas-X is the only thing that works for me.
Good luck. :)

Did you try Gas-X? That's works really well. Are you sure your doc can't perscribe something? Check that as well. Hope you feel better!
