When I was growing up, we always had cats and dogs. Many cats and dogs. We watched them get born, watched them get old and die. We helped with their care, their bathing and walking and feeding. Ask your children! Do they have any fears (phobias) about any animals? Take them with you to the breeders/shelter/pound/adoption agency to help pick out their new buddy and to name him or her. Get that pet neutered ASAP!
May God Bless and keep you, kind soul.

That size of family witht hat young of kids would be bad for the ferret. They do not deal well with itty bitty kids and tend to bite

I would say a small dog, perhaps a mix breed so that it is a little sturdier. Try calling your local humane society. They would know what would be the best to fit your family, lifestyle and area

Well a dog is alot of work. A fish doesnt really excite the kids to much. So I would have to say a cat. Its easy to take care of and little kids love cats. You can even teach them how to clean out the litterbox. Its a good responsibility for them to learn.

For kids that younge I'd say a cat. But just keep in mind a cat is a 15 + year responsibility.

I had all kinds of animals growing up, but I'd say fish for young kids would be best. It would build them up for the responsibility for larger pets, and for the heartache when they pass on.

Get a cat. A dog is nice but the kids won't walk it. A cat will take care of itself.

a dog. mostly a short haired one. i agree you shouldnt get a ferret because kids are too young to handle them. a good medium ssized dog. if they get playful they wont knock the kids down. and the dog wont get squashed by the kids. a girl one is best. boys tend to smell girls privits just in instinct. it will give your kids responsibility too
