Let's see. The propaganda mill in the US is distinctly left-leaning. There's a hint for you.
Fascists are national socialists--another strong hint.
When Eisenhower complained about the great "military industrial complex" it was something long nurtured during a Democratic administration, a party that often held power because the Socialist party joined them during the Depression.
The current administration hasn't had much success in stemming the tide of government expansion, for that they are distinctly guilty. But socialism? Nope, you are barking up the wrong tree.
BTW, the two classic fascist examples are Germany and Italy in WWII, religion was an inconvenient nuisance to both Hitler and Mussolini.

There's nothing wrong with nationalism - I fear "globalism" more than strong nationalism. The military isn't in control of this government - will you accuse the government of fascism and extreme nationalism every time it takes up arms to fight other nations in order to defend itself? And there is no "scapegoat" either - Who... christianity? Iraq? There are far more reasons that we SHOULD have gone into Iraq than reasons against, and that true today as well - stop listening to the socialists and communists who run the media. They try to present an argument that holds no credence, and they ask the same questions that have already been answered as if they have no answers. "Why did we go into Iraq, Mr. Bush...?" He gave a million speeches why we went in - UN resolutions, turning away of weapons inspectors, threats from Saddam of terrorism, ties to terrorist organizations, relationships with plotters of 9/11, possible WMDs... The reasons go on and on and on. Stop asking the same lame questions. I'm not fooled.

My first reaction is to laugh at this. I don't believe we are any where near a fascist state. However, the real power in this country is not with the people in many ways. The real power is with mega corporations and the politicians they manipulate. There were a lot of reasons to invade Iraq, most of which were not noble. I believe one of the biggest reasons was for the money generated by defense and infrastructure contractors. Look at the incredible amounts of money. Look at the connections. I have said this before. These guys are always bugging their buddies for a little war.

I agree that there is a false sense of nationalism in America. The rulers in America found out that , appealing to all sorts of sentiments of the American psyche, such as the one related to 9/11, that wrapping the American flag over ANYTHING could be useful to their military agenda.
Who would want to question patriotism these days? The few who do question are labelled 'traitors' or 'hippies' or 'terrorists'.
As for Ed S's comments : Fascism is a political DOCTRINE, and NOT a type of government. Anyone who read a decent politics book would know that not ALL Fascist governments are related to Hitler and Nazism. Germany was a DEMOCRACY and a Fascist state during the world war and Hitler was elected by popular support. And tell your Grand Mother that the Americans did not get into the war until they thought it was profitable.

This country and most of the world is run by a group called the Aluminati. They started in 1730 but shut down by the German government. They started again in 1776 in America and have been growing stronger every day. Their goul is to rule the entire world thru the bar code system and computers. They will succeed for a short time. It will be a dictatorship. Read your Bible.

Read all of the answers to this question posted by conservatives, and you'll have your answer. Most people are so ignorant they don't even know what the word fascist means. They refuse to accept that there could ever be such a thing as too far to the right. Hitler was before their time and they slept through their history classes, so as the saying goes, "Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it." All they're able to comprehend is that having a megalomaniac bent on controlling the world as their president makes them feel safer (it worked for Hitler too). These are the people who voted Bush into office and would still do it again in spite of all of the horrible things he's done.
Most of the incorrect responses are merely laughable, but Rabbit pretends he actually knows something the rest of us don't know, making him more dangerous, so I'll directly rebut some of his comments.
1) "Fascists are national socialists": Although it's true that Hitler referred to his party as a national socialist party, that was just standard political misdirection (like Bush saying we're fighting for freedom while allowing people to be unjustly imprisoned and tortured). Hitler was as far to the right as humanly possible, and he hated communists even more than he hated Jews. Reread Martin Niemoller's famous "...and then they came for me" quote. They came for the communists first, even before the Jews.

http://www.janrainwater.com/htdocs/Rohde.htm
2) "...religion was an inconvenient nuisance to both Hitler and Mussolini.": Hitler was a Christian, a Catholic to be specific, and a lot of his hatred of Jews probably stemmed from this upbringing. The Catholic church has reformed substantially in recent years, but their disdain for all other religions used to be so extreme, they preached that any Catholic who set foot in a Protestant church would go to hell. Naturally they had even more contempt for Jews.

Note that the essay above was written in 1998, before Bush was elected, but the next to the last paragraph, regarding "family values", is frighteningly prophetic:
"Hitler, like some of today's politicians and preachers, politicized 'family values.' He liked corporal punishment in home and in school. Jesus prayers became mandatory in all schools under his administration. While abortion was illegal in pre-Hitler Germany he took it to new depths of enforcement, requiring all doctors to report to the government the circumstances of all miscarriages. He openly despised homosexuality and criminalized it. If past is prologue, we know what to expect if liberty becomes license."
Merging religion with the government is also one of the recognized characteristics of fascism.

I have said for years that the hallmark event of this takeover was the murder of JFK. (Wasn't Papa Bush the second in command in the CIA at the time?) And for years people have been looking at me like I am crazy. Now people with whom I have shared this idea are telling me that they had read or heard the very same thing years ago. I reminded them that I was the one who originally postulated this. Again they look at me like I am crazy.
But this idea is beginning to take hold and maybe some day the truth will be known.

We vote for people to run our country. Go look up the word fascist, then go read about saddam.
I'm assuming you are saying Bush is discriminating against muslims. how can you say this, when our military is fighting alongside muslims to give muslims freedom?
Think for yourself a bit before you repeat the 'michael moores' of this world, with words like, "fascist".

It hasn't, YET - but it will if the Islamic psycho terrorists have their way! Stop helping them, will you? Questions like this along with all of the bullcrap, anti-war rhetoric in this country give them a false sense of an impending victory because they get the notion that America will eventually cut and run.
Not this time, dirt bags! We're there for the duration to help you gather up all of your promised virgins and drink camel milk with pretty music playing in the background.
