by tradition wishes are not worded. or spoken outloud
You never speak of them to anyone.
(unless they are a person who can grant your wish . as an example you are living in your dads house you should tell him often you are wishing for a dog)

a true wish is wished with the heart. with all your emotion and feeling in it.

You do need to make your wishs reasonable.
you cant change the past or have much effect on the here and now. and the impossible wishes will only be granted on your arrival in heaven.

And thats the last thing , if you are not a worthy (good enough?)
person the wish may come true in an unhappy way
which is why they say to be careful of what you wish for you might get it.

Go out and look into the night sky on a clear night where the stars are clearly visible and say, I wish I may, I wish I might, have the wish I wish tonight. Then close your eyes and verbalize your wish. In order for it to come true, you must never write it down or tell anyone. I know you may be laughing right now, but trust me, it really works.

I am a Muslim Arab-American, and I do not find your question offensive, in fact I think its a very interesting observation. I understand your point that hijabs are scarves, and abayas are basically long dresses, however the Arabic words for these garments are more appropriate. On the other hand, I feel that if English words were used to describe the clothing of Muslim women, then the barriers that separate us would start coming down. If more people understand that the Muslim apparel is not so foreign, then maybe we could begin to see eye to eye. If English words did start being used to describe Muslim clothing, then maybe Muslims won't be seen as so different.

You need to get a type of paper called parchment. Write your intentions on it. Hold it in your hands while you are praying, meditating or whatever. Verbalize your intent. Repeat the 23rd psalm and release the thoughts.
