my guess is the preamp is causing the hum
can you go directly from the turntable to the PC?
you may need a noise filter between the pre-amp and the pc to cut the static comming from the amp...

what does it use to connect to the amp? RCA mini? if so try plugging that into the audio in on your pc....
if not you may have to do some shopping for analog to digital converters to either bypass the preamp or go directly from the turntable to the pc...

good luck...

first u need some analog cables to get it into the pcs' sound card ... then you need a software "recorder" on the pc ...if the recording software doesnt have ...or you dont already have ... an mp3 codec, then you need that also.
