But of course. Some people I know have made their closest friends yet over the net and haven't ever met in person.

I don't know if that would work for me as well as for others though. I get antsy when I sit in front of the computer too long and feel like I need face-to-face interaction.

Mom's been married 4 times then finally found her perfect match over the internet. Now they're going to get married in the month they first met 9 years ago. She & my future step-dad always said that if the person you met on the net doesn't want to meet within a year after knowing eachother over the net, then yall are never gonna get anywhere beyond the computer screen. Now I've learned that the hard way from when I spent tons of times on the net to find out the person is some old hag living in New York instead of the Gulf Coast area. But that's been a rule of thump I've used over the years:

If the person is against meeting you after a year of knowing eachother over the net or is eager to meet you 2 days after yall first meet over the net, just throw'em back because their living out a make-believe life that they can't & never live.

Sure, as long as they aren't the only interactions with strangers you ever have. Meeting new people in person supposedly is a good thing, as well.

No, because in real life, you can see who you are talking to. On the Internet, one can say they are one thing, and be something else.

Depends on how you much you make of them and your own personal prefrences. Anything is possible with relations with people.

I suppose anything is possible. But my experience involving a certain idiot jackass, in particular, has been unpleasant.
