More than likely, yes, because you probably touched a piece of metal in the case.

hi, (ANS) there are a range of factors right here to comprehend. No.a million the biggest bottleneck in any computer equipment is the interior sight Bus or the front side Bus. The interior sight bus (in mega hertz) is what joins each and each of the quite a few computer factors at the same time, the interior sight bus enables each and each of the factors to talk with one yet another. So the swifter the interior sight bus or the front side bus the more desirable helpful. No.2 If the images card makes use of DDR3 reminiscence and that reminiscence is swifter in % to the reminiscence used on the motherboard then the images card DDR3 will default to the slower % of the major equipment board i.e. it is going to default all the way down to DDR2 %. So definite! it is going to artwork very just about actually yet will artwork slightly more desirable slowly, even with the undeniable fact that, what that appears like fairly, in prepare i could not say. **The XFX GeForce 8600GT 512MB DDR2 PCIE DVI , were the MD also makes use of DDR2 can be a more desirable helpful fit i.e. more desirable properly ideal IMO. **in the journey that your going for Vista make certain each and each of the drivers are one hundred% Vista properly ideal. Drivers were a large problem with vista. sort Regards Ivan computer veteran, MCSE educated.

as long as you didn't spark you will be fine...
if you feel the spark jump between you and the electronics then there is a problem... just keep a rubber band on your wrist till you are done building it and keep the parts in the anti-static bag until you are ready for them...

the only time i've ever sparked was when it was cold and i was in a hurry to finish working on a machine...i touched the frame first tho so nothing happend but i was actually reaching for a cpu so i was lucky, cause i didn't have a replacement for it at the time...

Maybe.

In my experience, mb and cards are somewhat durable. I'd take the necessary precautions and do things, ground yourself.

If they don't work, then there still is no gaurantee that the parts worked before you touched them. Remember, always ground yourself.

Most of the time (actually almost all of the time) there wil be no damage and no problem. If you saw a spark from static electricity, then I would worry.

It's a risk, but probably ok. Static electricity is one of the worst enemies of computer electronics, though.

there is no effect on your motherboard and card..but still you can't get rid of static electricity but to no avail it does not bring harm to your components
