n Philippine folklore, the dwende are little spirits, usually helpful and friendly, but when offended they can cause sickness and even death. They live in houses and occupy themselves by singing, making noise, and throwing sand and pebbles. They sometimes knock over kitchen utensils.

I personally don't have any experiences with duendes, but my grandmother says she saw an alux, a type of duende, when she was young. I believe her, since so many people say they have seen them in the region that she lives in, which is the Yucatan Peninsula
