Eithernet is NOT faster than usb, depending on the type of card and cable your using, cat 5 cable with a 100mb connection = 100 mb/sec max...usb 2.0 = 480 mb/sec max.

Gigabit eithernet with a cat 6 cable = 1000mb/sec max.
