How to end all wars? Closing down Fox News would be a good beginning! One could argue that man is a tribal animal, and certainly nationalism and patriotism can be fuelled into preventing people from seeing a balanced picture. Cursary readings of hostile comments on international events will confirm that to anyone objectively reading the responses on these pages. Educate people to know the difference between truth and lies; to understand value judgements, to understand bias, to understand that when people speak or write they do so from a particular perspective, and that perspective is not from disinterest. Know the bias to understand the message. Pre-emptive strikes for example are a sure (fire) way to the destruction of civilization, because they ensure the redundancy of diplomacy. Whilst there have always been wars, for power and control, it is certainly the case that there will be unrest wherever there is injustice. It is true, however simple, to see that around the world the problems arise from areas where there is poverty and injustice. The creation of ghettos of poverty in Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq (not counting Africa which is a whole new other problem of poverty and corruption) create pools of potential violence for others (notably the affluent West) . People who have nothing will struggle, will develop martyrdom, will develop a culture of resistance. Some call this terrorism and others call it fighting heroically for a cause. It all depends whose side you are on and of course both sides think God is with them too.
If I may be forgiven for choosing a simplistic analogy - but it serves its purpose - trying to end all wars is like trying to reach perfection - we can never attain it, but once we stop trying we are lost. Truth, liberty and justice are really what is needed but it isnt even present in that so called "bastion" of democracy the USA. Indeed, the world has never been in a more dangerous position, because of extremist positions adopted by both "sides" in the current "crusade/jihad".
I guess one has to be an optimist to be human. It is too easy to say we can never stop wars, because that would become a self fulfilling prophesy, despite the history of the human race to date. No, what is really the hope for the future lies in democracy and education. No - dont smile or scoff! At the moment two so-
-called democracies: the USA and Israel are involved in policies of pre-emptive strikes which I have indicated will lead to ultimate disaster, because this is simply fuel to the fires of war and retribution.
Where democracies have no effective opposition, democracies fail! They fail regardless of the history of voting and legislation etc. There MUST be strong voices in opposition for a democracy to exist, and a free press and media is a pre-requisite, not in the hands of either governments, leaders or a small band of media barons.
It is the silent majority that allows wars, and it is the silent majorities (not the politicians) who are the war fodder. Will people ever learn? Yes, with education, but the press and media are self serving. Maybe now the silent majority in all countries at least those not having their infrastructures destroyed), can find the internet rather than the streets a way of creating a more peaceful world. If you do not believe your neighbour can ever be your friend, maybe you should look to your behaviour rather than to your heart.

Firstly, i hate to break it to u dude... but its quite impossible. Men, for hundreds of years seem to have an obsession with WAR. they just love to be in conflicts and get worked up and start to develop all kinds of destructive machinaries to destroy one another.

They only thing i feel can stop the war is to have all of the human race to STOP talking bad about other people. With Words, people are soon divided and start taking sides. On a larger scale, thats how war happens....
