wow
thats a pretty strong stereo-type.

I consider Pacific Islanders Asian...Tuiatusopo would be pretty angry at that insinuation.

Are you looking for names like Chang and Murayama?
Then it may be that you don't find many...

It's not a race or nationality driven sport...
To play pro ball, you have to go to college.
Once you are in college, the rest depends on your athletic ability, your cultural perspectives of education vs sports, and (especially for many of my asian friends) what your family wishes that you are successful at.

I had a roomate...his name was Cho. We used to tease him because he was an awesome athlete in EVERYTHING: "Cho know baseball, Cho know football, Cho know "you name the sport" ".
He was BIG, very Muscular, incredibly quick runner, great in martial arts, very intelligent.

His family did NOT allow him to concentrate on sports...he was to be an engineer. And so, poor Cho became an engineer.

Not true; Dat Nguyen was a decent linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys for a number of years. I think he's out of the league now, but I think he played from the late '90s into the early '00s; maybe about 4-5 years or so? (Cowboy fans, help me out here.)

I think some of it has to do with genetics and body structure. Asians tend to be a little smaller than Westerners. But as more Asians live, breed and grow in America, I'm sure you'll see more making their way into the NFL.
Plus, I don't think American football is as ingrained into the Asian culture as some other sports ... volleyball and soccer seem pretty popular in those circles, based on what I see at parks.

Southern California, the University of Hawaii and most colleges out west have quite a few Asians... And the All-Time Leading Passer in NCAA Division 1 is an Asian named Timmy Chang that played for Hawaii and is a rookie for the Philadelphia Eagles.

There have been some great Asian players actually
Dat Nugen (I can't spell his name) (former LB for the cowboys and Aggies)
Hines Ward (current Steeler WR)
Will Demps (Saftey for the Giants)

and if what u say is true it is only becuse american football is only taken seriously in the U.S.

I think a lot of people in asia play baseball and they are good at that

Its not a matter of race, its a matter of size and athletic ability, most asians are not big enough to handle being pounded like you do in football...4yrs of playing football is like pounding your head into a brick wall 100 times, so its not for the small or at least the small at hart....not to say it cant be done, if you think you can handle being beaten up and then thinking "i friggen love this" then you will be ok to try, or maybe you can be a kicker...they rarely get hit..haha

Ever hear of Dhat Nguyen?

He retired last year from the Cowboys after a very nice career and was honored at halftime of last Saturday's game.

There are several Asians in the CFL as well.

I wouldn't know because I am not Asian. But there was a guy who used to go to my older sister's college, Dat Nguyen, who played in the NFL. He has since retired, but he was killing it for awhile. There was also a guy named Via Sikahema. Asians can do it too. :) Ha Ha Ha

Hines Ward is part Asian, and he's one of the best. You also got other nationalities like Troy P.
