Not always - the possibilities of having a baby with Down Syndrome just increase with age. My mom's friend was 43 when she had her son. The doctors told her it was going to come out with Down Syndrome, that she should get rid of it cuz he could come out with other problems too. Well, she decided to keep it despite everything they said - and she had a totally healthy baby. My aunt also had a son after she was 45 and he came out healthy too. Even if the baby was to come out with Down Syndrome - that's a gift from God - they come like that for a reason!

No, the chances are just a bit higher. I just had a baby this year at 39 and she is perfect. My friend had a baby last year at 45 and he is perfect. The chances are increased after 40, but plenty of women have normal, healthy babies after 40.

yes it is possible , I'm 44 and i had a baby 16 months ago . my doctor recommended me doing a amniocenteses ( dint know how to spell that) . it was scary but it was no big deal not as bad as i thought it would be . but the test tells the doctors alot about the baby and can notify you of several different problems at a early stage , even the baby's sex it can forwarn you what to exspect so you know what your dealing with .

Yes, the possibilities are ALWAYS there however—most women in their forties give birth to babies that do NOT have down syndrome.

That's very true, I used to teach Special Ed, and every one of my Down's syndrome kids over the years had older parents.
