Sounds like you have a glitch in your game.

This purse is associated with Mrs Crumplebottom, and old prudish lady that dislikes public displays of affection. She beats people with her purse if she doesn't like what they are doing!

If you have any installed hacks on your game, just try the test of disabling all custom content. The way to do that is to go to the dial on the left bottom and select the three dots. Then in the gears option (I think it is) turn off all custom content. Shut down the game and restart. See if the floating purse turns into that old woman. If so, then you have just done a troubleshoot of your game and found out that you have some hack installed. Just remove the hack from your game, then you can use your other custom content again.

Another cause of game glitches is if you use 'boolprop testingcheatsenabled true' and it changes some of the programming of your lots. There is no easy way to fix this. For home lots, normally you can just bulldoze the lot and the glitch on that lot will be gone. If it is affecting your whole game, then you may have to reinstall.

Be aware that there are game patches, and you need to have them installed to remove some of the known bugs that can happen in the game. Mrs Crumplebottom is bugging in some games that haven't been patched.

WTF?

I had a simular problem with this at my mom's PC (she plays The Sims 2, too). Try uninstalling JUST THE NIGHLIFE EXPANSION and reinstalling it. Don't erase your work via My Documents, and it should work fine. If not, try closing all programs before playing The Sims 2. If that dosen't work, then go to California and demand to speak the Will Wright, then shove your copy of Nighlife up his butt.
