Isn't it odd that so many level of police are foiled on a daily basis by local dealers?
I have come to the conclusion that with the technology of today we could eradicate drugs but it is too lucrative to those in power and to convienent to the governement to have a segmant of it's population rendered useless by them.

Give them bread and circuses and they will not notice the disrepair of the roads and aquiducts

The CIA is one of the major drug dealers in the U.S. , bringing in tons of drugs from other countries, so that they may have money available for their covert operations without it showing up on any governmental records. They were doing this in nam, and continue to do so today. This is why the war on drugs will not be won

No. We can't eradicate drugs.
Basically a lot of cities have given up on enforcing the drug laws.
Here is the breakdown.
Say there is some big east cost city -- let's call NewDelphia starts cracking down on drugs -- results? Drugs don't exactly disappear -- but their price skyrockets. Addicts however still want to get their fix, but now they cannot afford it. What do they do? Rob and murder. So crime in NewDelphia skyrockets as well.
Now NewDelphia is perceived as "unsafe" -- people and business flee -- city looses a lot of money.
To combat this pattern(good drug enforcement -- more crime) -- cities basically adopted a non-enforcement policy.
Basically war on drugs is incompatible with democracy.
A dictatorship could easily eradicate drugs, but a democracy can't -- without abolishing civil liberties -- which seem like using a cannon to kill a fly.

The war on drugs is unamerican. Only criminals gain anything from it.

In fact it costs law abiding citizens billions a year.

It costs people who's only crime is enjoying mental intoxication time in jail, fines, loss lots of things. Including children, job, marriage, license.

While I am against using drugs around children, or at work, or while driving....the truth is you could smoke a joint right after work, hang out with some friends until it wears off...Drive home, get pulled over, caught with some minuscule amount on you, lose your license, and possibly your kids, go to jail and pay a huge fine.

**** all you people who think the war on drugs is a good thing.

Take a little time to think about it, read up on what really goes on. Be a real American, Fight terrorism, legalize drugs.

Well you are not even close.

I don't agree for a second that with today's technology we could eradicate drugs. I would LOVE to hear your solution to the drug problem using today's technology. Second, drugs are not convenient to the government. How is drug use convenient to the government? The government doesn't make any money off of drug sales. That statement is ridiculous. Drugs COST the government money through payouts of welfare monies and services to drug users, time lost at employment resulting in a loss of the gross national product, and crimes committed by drug using low lifes resulting in welfare benefits being paid out to their victims.

seems darqblade has got the picture.why do you think its called a controlled substance? why does the u.s.a. offer sanctuary to drug lords? the war on drugs cannot and will not be won when the persons supplying the chemicals are either cia- dea or another law enforcement agency. they sell this crap by the lbs and implant frequency transmitters to track where it goes. once it reaches its destination-- they send in the gestapo task force to confiscate what they have supplied along with whatever else is in the house. i may be wrong-- but thats my story and im sticking to it

You have nailed it, those in charge do not want or are unable to win the war on drugs. It is no deterrent to take somebody off of the street and slap their hands and put them back on the street. To much money is made to end the use of drugs altogether.

you got that right!
keep them stupid and divided so you can rule easier over them.
that is why no government of any country wants to win the war against drugs.
besides, the incomes are so big that they can´t just refuse such amounts of illegal money, because sooner or later it all ends up in banks, and the government gets it´s part.
