I was on the pill for 6 years and went off of it 1 year ago (after getting married), since then my periods have been REALLY irregular....cycle ranging from 26-36 days.... lasting 1-7 days. I get a cyst on my ovary (rotating monthly) every month and that is the only reason that I know that I am in fact ovulating.
I'm wondering if this is going to make conceiving a child difficult? We haven't been "trying", but we arent using protection either. Every month 10 days before I get my period I get nauseous, breast tenderness, side cramping and severe headaches. Ive spoken with Dr's and they don't seem too concerned, they tell me that if I am concerned than I can take Clomid....
I'm 25 years old! I shouldnt need a pill to regulate things! I am more concerned with WHY my period is all sorts of crazy a year after taking the pill.
Has this happened to anyone else?

I had some of the same problems but I was diagnosed with Poly cystic ovary syndrome. I had irregular periods and several cyst to burst and that is very painful. My suggestion is PLEASE go to a Doctor that seems concerned. I really don't want anyone to go through the pain and heartache that my husbandand I went through. So go get yourself checked out and always pray. Prayer brought me through and through prayer we are the proud parents of a happy healthy 16 month old baby boy. It took us 2 years and God answered our prayers and it was well worth the wait.

Well, the same thing happened to me, but I'm not sure that you have the same problem. I have an elevated prolactin level which was brought on by some unable to be seen, pinprick sized tumor on my pituitary gland. This was never a problem until I came off the pill. Apparently it can activate the tumor somehow and this caused me to have irregular ovulation. i know there are other hormonal issues that can arise after extended time on the pill. The doctor is right about the clomid, it will regulate your periods. But, if you are concerned with taking a pill, why not buy some ovulation predictor kits and see if you can detect ovulation accurately. If so, then you can just use them when you start trying and should not have problems conceiving if you know when you are ovulating. Good luck!

I know how you feel. I get the headaches etc etc before my period too! The doctors want you to keep trying to conceive for a year before they will consider you as requiring help :( Its really a frustrating process, but stress only further complicates the problem. I would get a second opinon on that cyst as i have heard that for some women to become a problem. Sorry I dont have an answer but I can at least sympathise with you.

First off I would go see a specialist OB/GYN.
Second, be tested to see if you have policystic ovary syndrome. Your irregular cycle is a concern, and the fact that you have a cyst on your ovary (rotating or not) is a red flag.

It is probably not the pill that made your periods all crazy. Do you remember if they were regular before you went on the pill?

Find a specialist that deals with policystic ovary syndrome, and have them check you out.

It hasn't happened to me but I'm sure you're not the only one! Your doctor sounds very insensitive to your concerns about your body and I would suggest you find another one! Here are some sites that you can research if you decide to take something natural instead of taking that crap the doctor prescribes! Sometimes taking what they give you causes more problems than you already have or create problems that you didn't!Try these sites:tryingtoconceive.com, fertilaid.com, www.ovulex.com , taking ovulex regulated my period! and fertilityblend.com I hope this helps you and feel free to contact me if you need some advice on what suppements can help also!((HUGGGS)) Good luck sweetie, God bless and loooooooooooooots of baby dust to you!!!!!!!

I was on the patch for 3 years, I went off of it in december and since then it was irregular and last month i was 2 weeks late...bah. My doc said that it's normal after going off of birth control, your body needs time to adjust. I'm 28 yrs old so not much older then you.

If you need to take something for a litle bit to regulate your periods it's ok.

Hormones leave your body at different rates. Everyone is individual. If you really want serious help, check out a Reproductive Endicrinologist. Some will not help you seriously until you have been actively trying for a year at your age.

you might be cramping while you ovulate. Have you tried one of those ovulating kits? from the store.

Best thing is to get serious with the doctor and your concerns.
Are you eating healthy? Blueberrys and lots of green leafy vegtables.
