Make sure she is not going with anyone first. Then either find her when she is alone and ask her, that way if she shoots you down it won't be so bad. Or write her a note and give it to her. If she says no ask someone else. If they all say no find a girl from some other school and make them wish they had said yes. If you can not get a date don't worry, go to the dance anyway because there will be more people there than you think without dates. Just tell them you came STAG so you would not be tied down to only 1 girl. That's the way High Schoolers do it.

I remember this situation when I was in middle school; except, I was the girl hoping to be asked. Girls are just as scared as boys are - believe me I know. I watched my brother and my son go through the same thing as you are now. Listen, I know it's scary - just take a deep breathe, release it slowly, walk over, say "Hi, would you like to dance?" If she says 'yes', good. If she says 'no' then try again with someone else after you have given yourself some time to recoup. Take it easy on yourself. Look, you can only be you and no one else. Keep it simple. Breathe. It doesn't matter if a girl says 'no'. With time -you will get better at it. Good luck and remember to have fun!

well just start talking to a girl (that knows u) and get on the subject about the dance and then u say well do u have a date and if she says no then ask her if she would like to go with u.

Your have two choices either be brave and just go right up to her and ask, or be a little shy and ask her in a note. You could also have one of your friends ask her for you. This is what I did in middle school a million years ago.

Just be real casual about it. Like you kinda wanna go but couldn't care less either way. "I'm thinking about going to that dance coming up, you wanna go?" Just work it into a conversation. Don't worry about rejection, just ask around untill you snag one. Good Luck.

Just ask. Something simple, like, "I was wondering if you'd like to go to the dance?" is enough. She might say no, and that'll suck, but it won't be the end of the world. But, just think, what if she says yes? I know it's scary, but you can do it. Good luck.
