Some say there was a dissapointment with Trent Reznor because Robin was in toyr with Cirque du Soleil and GNR instead being working with NIN... but nobody can affirm that. Also, Finck and Reznor refuses to comment it.
What happened? Anyone knows?

- There was no statement on NIN or Finck official websites
- Finck almost never granted interviews
- When Reznor was interviewed, he banned any questions about Clouser, Finck and Lohner.

In an interview, he said he needs to have quality time for family life and to seek a lone venture.

I'd like to think that it's not immature possessive reasons. Here's what I think.
Reznor has really changed. And NIN is, above all, just Trent really. He cleaned up, changed his look and everything. Even [With_Teeth] (most recent album - for those who don't know) has a different feel to it than anything else he's done. My guess is that they parted ways due to the changes that Reznor has made..... off they went on their separate ways. "Creative Differences" I suppose.
I'd bet they don't want to talk about it just because then they would have to explain to everyone - and it's annoying enough in "small-people"'s lives like ours to have to explain things 50 times over - imagine what it's like when you're famous.
That's just what I'd like to think.
(My opinion - Reznor, Finck, Lohner, and Clouser = Best lineup!)

maybe some of them got a little greedy. its always the money / fame factor that breaks up a band.
