Yes you can start in second. In fact my automatic Camaro has a switch called SGS (second gear start) a factory option for in-climate weather. If you are really good after take off you can shift without the clutch. That messes people up.
And by the way if you have a factory '95 it is an LT1 not LS1, that was the V8 '98 through '02. Two entirely different breeds and block design.
No starting in second is no harder on the clutch than first, provided you launch properly.

Just shift starting from 1st. It's easier and the proper thing to do. Why in the world would you want to start in 2nd gear?
Shift numbers go sequentially, i.e., 1-2-3-4-5.

the 95 z28 Lt1
has a lock out on 2nd gear the vettes did it to.
at less than 25% throttle 2nd gear is locked out causing you to shift from 1st to 4th "to conserve gas"

Don't you mean take off in second gear? Why? Does 1st gear rap out too quick? You risk burning the clutch and lugging the motor,,Just learn to shift quick out of 1st..

If you are asking if you can start off in 2nd gear, yes. You may be able to start in 3rd if you don't slip the clutch. Try it and see what gear you can start off in, I wouldn't make a habit of taking off above 3rd unless you are already rolling.

Yes you can and you can also get into each gear without using the clutch pedal but you need to play around with your car to figure it out. Usually when you are just above 2500RPM'S you can.

yes its true you can start off in second gear if you want but it will require more rpm and isn't really great for the clutch either.

Why would you want to. To prevent spinning the rears meat, OK I'll buy it, first is pretty low in that tranny....which is good for burning tires..
