Insert your windows CD or Recovery/restore disc. Restart the computer. While starting up the computer will ask you to press any key to boot from CD. Hit a key quickly. Follow the directions from there on your screen.

before you kill your machine make sure you've gotten any files (pics documents or programs) you don't have on a disk or flash drive copied off the machine first...
If you have XP and a disk and the key then pop that sucker in and try to repair it first... if not...
then format and reinstall... besure to have all the drivers you need for your computer before you begin... then get a good movie or book and let the waiting begin...

If your running windows XP, pop in the CD into the CD rom drive and boot your system into the windows set up. From there, there's options to reformat your hard drive, re partition, and reinstall or fresh install your system. Just follow basic instructions.

Insert any operating system cd follow the instruction once they ask you for a format accept the option and follow it will be formated and reinstalled.

Well, get yourself a copy of Windows, and put it in your drive, restart your computer, and when it asks if you want to create a new partition do it

Windows XP installer will prompt for doing just that as a convenience.
Most modern OS installers will prompt for that too.

From a dos prompt type:
format c:
But I recommend you don't do that.
Do you know what "format" means? It means "completely erase everything - including Windows and all your programs."
