I coach for a club that has a ladies team.
They tried to practice with us once...most of the guys love these ladies like little sisters....so it wasn't like they were trying to hurt anyone....but gradually...girls started getting hurt. Now they practice separately.
Here is my answer....and I have two daughters that want to play football with the boys so I've said this before.
Boys hit hard and have strong upper bodys. You have to be in really strong shape to take so many hits - so often. SOOooo.
When you can do 40 push ups (NOT on your knees)...give it a try.
Tell the coach you can do 40 push ups, you can run fast and far, and you want to play any position on the team.
I hope you do it...and I truly hope you have a very good time.
It is...a fun sport.

I am very much in support of girls playing football. However, I do think it could get a little too rough in the higher levels of play, like the NFL for instance. I'd love to see a woman playing at high school or college level, but I think it could get a little too rough. I'm not saying women aren't tough, don't beat me down with that. A female's bones tend to get more frail then a male's, earlier in life. There would be more injuries to the women players than men. But that doesn't really matter to you at this stage. I say go for it! Have fun with it.

You can achieve anything, if you really want to participate in football I say you go girl. I'm not saying that it won't be hard physically and mentally. And yes you'll have a few guys on the team that might hate on you and your dream. But you have a lot of supporters, your family and all the other girls who probably never muster up the courage to do what you're doing.

The best thing is to say is to follow your dreams and your heart!
I always wanted to play football and be a QB I have a terrific arm I can throw up to 60-70 yards for a 15 yar old!
But my dreams got terminated because my father became very jealous of me playing better ball than my other brother which is BS.
But DON'T NEVER give up!!!!

go for it. I had girl on my HS football team. I never saw her play though (the team was pretty good though, so it's not that she was a bench-warmer just because she was a girl)
And Mrs Lendale White, 60-70 yards at 15, and being a girl (not sexist, just a reference to muscle mass)----puh-leeze. Have you watched any NFL QB compatition? The guys with the biggest cannons of arms rarely hit 70 (usually barely over 60) and when they do they usually get wind ---and these guys are 20something and weight-trained-proffessional athletes.

I don't think anyone will be overtly mean to you; it'll be a lot more subtle. Ignoring you, not taking you seriously, maybe laying a little harder hit on you than they might on someone else.
If you're serious, you should talk to the coach and see where you might fit in. He's going to discourage you (partly because of lockerroom issues), but it's possible you could be a kicker or punter, or possibly a "low impact" position like a wide receiver. You'd have to be decent-sized (5'9" would make you taller than many of the guys who play cornerback, for example) and pretty fast.
Good luck.

If you want to try it then do it.
but be prepared to feel a lot of pain
if they see you crying or not geting up after a play (providing you r not seriously hurt) they will never respect u
hit them back as hard as you can-play like you don't care if you survive or not.
