i wouldn't call it a planet. It has too eccentric an orbit, is too near the Kuyper belt and is too small- even though it has a moonlet. I've seen asteroids that have moons. And comets and asteroids orbit the sun. In the Kuyper belt there's probably tons of planetessimals that orbit the sun. The reason for the distinction is like this: we have houses we live in that have bathrooms, bedrooms, living rooms, garages and such. But where do we stop calling such things houses the smaller they get. Is a shack a house even with no running water, no rooms, a leaky roof? To some people it would be called home. But we draw the line somewhere between what's a house and what's a shack.

Over here they called it the dwarfed planet, so I assume just any version of 'small' would do.

I personally would consider Pluto a planet, whether or not it had an oval shaped orbit (the path the moon(s) travel along). They said that, since the other planets had a circular orbit but Pluto had an oval one, that would mean that Pluto is really not a planet.

Although, the name, "Dwarf Planet" is appropriate.

Pluto isn't considered a regular planet anymore. Pluto is now considered a "dwarf planet" and that's what they meant in Spanish. It's neither offensive or funny.

The bubbleheads determined that Pluto is too small to be considered a planet, so they are referring to it as a Dwarf Planet. They say because it isnt completely round, and because it intersects with Neptunes orbit, it gets demoted.

science is constantly changing.

pluto may have been downsized and stripped of its status right now. but who knows, in the future, scientists may yet again uncover new things about the 'former' planet and bring back its lost glory :)
