I was backing out of a driveway and the garbage can caught under the passenger wheel well. I was able to pop out a lil ding with a hammer. What do I do now? I would rather try and fix it myself then having to spend a lot of money to have someone else do it.

I agree with the majority as a collision repair technician myself.

If there is no paint damage you are better of paying Dent Wizard or someone similar to do the job. It is not as expensive as you might think.

If there is paint damage bring it to me I'll hook you up.

paint-less dent professionals can do a lot providing your attempt did not break any paint. I work at a car dealership and I see them all the time I will call them at the smallest dent and keep all door dents gone so I can tell when and where when I come out of a store you car door did this I exclaim! Give me money! about 20 to 25 door dent and 175 dollars when the wall hook gave way and my mountain bike crashed onto the hood of my Cadillac

This is not something that you can do yourself. You are better off having a professional perform the work for you. What looks like a minor ding can turn into a large area of chipped paint, and you'll end up paying more for repairs.

Go with the advise of _hung like a_. If you decide to do yourself, read up or purchase basic auto body repair pamphlets, magazines, or books. When I first started working with body metal (59 years back) I was given a piece of dry wall with small holes and dry wall "mud" to apply, sand and paint. Only after many attempts did my instructor allow me to proceed to start a real auto body repair.
