Traditionally, they are primarily in Ireland. However, many of the beings in Irish folklore are attached to the people, as opposed to the land, and so may have travelled with the folks who emmigrated. Your best bet, in Canada, would probably be in the Nova Scotia area.

Sure...they came over on the Mayflower and hung out in the rafters. When they landed, they made their homes in green fields and leafy glens, and interbred with Newfoundlanders. Why do you think Newfies talk the way they do?
LOL....I'm sorry. Newfies are cool people. Really, there's no such thing as leprechauns.

They only live in the wooded areas in Ireland beneath the willow limbs. That is where they keep their pots O' Gold.
The fairies live there also & visit children as they play & watch over them as their guardians.

Traditionally I believe they're only found in Ireland, but heck, they are magical creatures so who's to say they can't live wherever they want! Maybe they've immigrated along with their Irish brethren.

I keep several as slaves in my basement. It is too cold here in Canaa for Leprachauns to survive, so they are much better off doing renovations, cleaning toilets and changing cat litter.
Every so often you have to beat the little squirts or they get uppity. I caught them trying to make irish whiskey last week and had to beat them severely (after confiscating the whiskey). It's not that makig whiskeyis a bad thing, it's that they hid it from me.
