There is really no way to tell. Every woman, every baby is different! The only true way to tell if you are in labor is regular contractions that get stronger and closer together. You can go to the hospital at 20 minutes apart and they will see what you are dialated at and hook you up to the fetal monitor. I was so scared when I had my first baby but I was 10 days late and finally had to be induced. I was so ready to have my baby! He started kindergarten yesterday! I hope you have a safe and easy delivery! Congratulations on being a mommy!

probably between now and two weeks.
You never know.
I suggest you do visulations. Picture in your mind what your body is doing. As you are in labor visualize your cervex like a turtleneck which the baby has to pass through...like a ball going through a sock. You are pretty much stretched out the sock but the ball needs to decend........er I mean the baby.

It is amazing what visulations can do. Mind over matter so to speak. When you have a tough contraction......let go of your body....don't tense up....release all muscles to be limp for the contraction and let your body do it's job. Fighting the contractions keeps the baby moving slow.

Hey keep us posted....where baby was born..and boy girl? name?

Best wishes

The above posters are correct. You could go the full 42 weeks so try not to get too anxious just yet...but you sound like you're progressing well! Soon, you'll be going through those sleepless nights when the baby gets up every couple of hours, so even though you're excited, TRY to relish these days when you can sleep! LOL!

You probably still have a few weeks. It is nerve wracking isn't it, especially with your first one not knowing what to expect. When I had my first one I went to the hospital when my contractions were 3 to 5 minutes apart. When the nurse checked me I was still only dilated ONE CENTIMETER!! Hang in there sister. Just rest! Before you know it you'll be holding that beautiful baby in your arms and you'll be wondering how you ever lived without it.

you are going to be able to desire to, or you are going to be able to desire to be pregnant for yet another 4-5 weeks regrettably. i became 2-3 cm dilated from 35 weeks and 50% effaced and did no longer have my daughter until 40.5 weeks. while you're having cramping nevertheless basically save a watch on it. sturdy luck

you might be in this stage for a while, I would just try to keep yourself busy. Try taking a long walk to speed things up a little. Just remember if your contractions are less than 5 mins a part, get to the doctor right away.
