Yes, ever since Reagan the Republicans have been wiping their behinds on the constitution... there are very few rights left they haven't taken away and the average funcitonal illiterate american is too stupid to see it.

Absolutely without a doubt. If you even have to ask...... well, I guess you aren't very observant, or else you never valued your prior freedom and privacy enough to notice that it has been being chipped away at slowly for the last 20 (approx) years at least. And if you didn't notice then, and haven't noticed all the new restrictions that have being put in place at a more rapid pace than ever, since George W. Bush has been in charge, well maybe you will finally notice when you are stopped at various "checkpoints" whenever you travel within your town or city and have to constantly show your ID, explain why you are out, etc..... and well..............it can only get worse.

No. Some of the things which we used to take for granted as private are under scrutiny - and this is enevitable when you consider the difficulties facing the country in trying to route out terrorists BEFORE they lauch another attack.

I don't have a problem with phone taps that search for key words or phrases - nor do I have a problem with call information software that looks for international calls to known terrorist countries. And tracing suspicious money trails or laundering operations shouldn't upset anyone either.

There is way too much information over the phones for anyone involved to have any time to listen to you having a conversation with your better half or ordering a pizza from the corner store.

Of course, if you listen to the ACLU, we're as good as doomed as a free society. Loosen up guys, we're at war with a very trecherous enemy.

Our freedoms aren't being taken away at an appreciable rate.

However, our protections against the government are being eroded day by day.

With out these protections, freedom will get tossed to the wind.

Unfortunately yes. In reference to airport security for example, the terrorists win every time they try to pull something stupid because everything they try to use against us then becomes something more we cannot carry through security and have to buy on the other side which is usually more expensive. But life is priceless and we still have a choice to not fly if we can drive there. It's a tough issue that's for sure.

The only freedoms I have lost here in the U.S. are the things I'd like to do but can't because I'm taking time out to raise my son. That's called "choice"; no one "took" that from me.

Yes, but it's to protect us. If you have a set of laws, lawyers find their way around those laws. Not just lawyers, but think about all the crooked people in america that try to get away with things. We have to change the laws and make them tougher so the crooked people won't hurt us or take advantage of us. I don't think these laws should affect the good people. But yes, our freedom to do wrong is being taken little by little.

Yes - single issue voters are beginning to swing the election based on what is "offensive" to them - which ends up creating freedom-curbing laws based on one person's opinion about decorum, decency etc.

Probably more than any of us Gringos know. If you want to keep tabs on what the government is up to, visit Alex Jones's website called Info Wars. He's a total patriot and champion of personal liberty. He may seem a tad over-the-top sometimes, but that's just because he's so troubled to see the erosion of our rites. and privacy.

No. We are giving them away. We gave away our right not to be taxed directly. We gave away the States' only way to control the feds- legislative appointment of Senators. We gave away control of our paychecks with withholding tax. We gave away our sense of individuality. We allow overly sensitive people to restrict our speech and language. We allow petty government beaureaucrats to control our actions (seat belt, helmet). No, they aren't being taken. WE GAVE THEM AWAY IN THE NAME OF LAZINESS AND COMFORT!
