Yes. In the 1850's China was 33% of the world economy. In the 1980's it was 2%. China views anything short of the 30% to be a short-term aberration. There isn't room for two top dogs on the world stage.

Not as long as they don't invade Taiwan.
China and the US will be very significant trading partners for the foreseeable future. As China grows in wealth, they will want more of the high value-added exports the US offers the world markets.
I don't think China wants to tank the US Dollar. They hold too many of them and would take a large financial hit if they tried to dump them all at once.
I also don't think China wants to invade the US. We're their largest customer. Who takes out their largest customer?

China is dangerous for all countries. China is the sleeping giant. They have everything other large countries have and they remain rather quiet for the most part. They are not a country to be taken lightly.

Only if we continue to let them. The reason why China has economic power is we taxed and regulated American manufacturing to have to leave to find an affordable place to go. If we change how we tax and implement a flat national sales tax (see the Fair Tax), manufacturing will fly back to America. All those fat union contracts helped in the short-term, but do not work in the long run. Most union people will never receive the gifts and handouts they negotiated in their contracts.

Not really. America is China's biggest customer. There is a big co-dependence between the 2 nations even though they disagree philosophically on many issues.
