tampons are like the best thing ever! i HATE wearing pads. for your question, no it doesn't hurt. just relax and if you have trouble using one read the little instructions that come in the box. it's not as hard as it seems.

I've had my period for about a year now, and I tried a tampon, and yes it hurts really bad for me. I even used the Gentle Glide ones. But all girls are different. I know it sucks that you can't do all the things when you didn't have your period. But don't be nervous to try a tampon, all you can do is try, if it doesn't work out, don't stress over it. I have PE class every week, and all my mom does is write a note and I just give it to my PE teacher and she is just fine with that. I'm sure she/he will understand. I actually had my mom call the school and ask what I could do and that's when she told me it was just as simple as writing a note. And when you want to where thongs, just think you don't have your period more than you do so you have a ton of time to where thongs. Sense you are just trying tampons, try the teen ones so it is easier. And the most important thing while your trying to insert is, relax!!! It will defiantly help if you relax. And if the teen ones are to small and they leak, try the Gentle Glide, those might fit you better. Remember, don't worry, relax, and good luck!!!

Use a tampon.
If it's inserted correctly, not only does it not hurt, but you shouldn't be able to feel it at all.
They might let you sit out of swimming while you have your period if you won't use a tampon, but it will be super embarrassing to be singled out like that.
If your only reason to not use a tampon is that you've never done it before and you're nervous, bite the bullet and give it a try. I'm guessing you'll wonder how you ever went so long without them!

The best advice I can give is to do it when you're ready. People have different reactions to tampons (some can't even wear them because they're too uncomfortable for them) so just make sure you're ready.. practice if you need to. And use the lites first they're the smallest. A tampon shouldn't hurt though unless you're putting it in wrong.

Tampons are really not bad at all and they don't hurt. Start with the slimmest one you can find, especially the ones that have a plastic, rounded inserter. If you need to use a little vaseline the first time, go ahead. You will find that tampons are not even close to as difficult to use as you think they are! Playtex makes one called Comfort Glide.

Look tampons do not hurt sweetie. Just read the instructions. I perfer the biodegradable tampons, but plastic are easier for your first time. Start out with the smallest absorbancy then work your way up. Hope i helped.

I had four sisters and they all used tampons from the beginning. They were all very active, and couldn't stand the idea of sitting on a bloody pad all day.
