Check with smaller employers. Large companies do routine background checks and, by policy, do not hire someone with a record of a felony. Smaller, privately-owned businesses often do not find it necessary to do background checks, since they get to know their employees on a more personal level by working with them every day.

Whatever you do, I would be honest about your past. There are still people out there that appreciate that and are willing to help a person start over.

If, you on Parole ask your Parole Officer about employment in your area. Many places will hire an "Ex-Con" and not care about your history if you a good worker. As far as Companies I not real sure. I did live in Fort Worth, but, did not know anyone with your circumstances. You may try things like Construction, Hotel/Motel, Mechanics those may be a good try. I think many places do a Background check and some even check peoples' credit. But, many not care, they just want to know. Good Luck!
