I agree with you totally. I would like to know how many babies these pro-lifers out there have adopted. Or how many abused/abandoned older children they have fostered or adopted. I don't believe abortion should be used as a form of birth control, but I do believe that their are definitely times when it is the best option.

Face it -- someone is going to choose. It's either going to be the individual, or it's going to be the majority (through enacted laws).

Either reproductive choice is a fundamental right, and the govt cannot impose an undue burden on the choice, or it's not and the govt can enact any laws it wants....

Including mandatory abortions, forced sterilization, forced surrogacy, and so on.

The concept of reproductive freedoms is not whether you agree with the individual choices being made. It's whether you think the government should have the right to take away and mandate those choices.

Why can't people understand that freedom of choice is not a minority value, even if the majority happens to disagree with the minority's choice?

Here's my opinion, and I am not trying to start any kind of political debate or to judge anyone...

I would feel very sympathetic for any woman in that situation. She has done nothing wrong - the rapist did. However the baby has done nothing wrong either, and I can't justify making him/her pay for the wrong way he/she was conceived.

And there probably are plenty of Republicans (and Democrats and Independents) who are trying to conceive who would be interested in adoption.

Um....... number 1, most hospitals and doctors give out plan B. therefore, no chance of a baby. Number two if a woman is not smart enough to go to a hospital after she has been raped, why should it be the childs fault? Why should it have to die because she doesn't have a brain. Oh, by the way, this is coming from a woman. Not a guy who think's he smart.......hmmmmm......kinda like you.

Nobody wants to go through that situation. But sometimes it is necessary. Why make bring one more baby into the world who's life is going to suck because their teenage mom can't care for them, or they have to live with the fact that their were a product of rape, or being adopted and never knowing their birth parents at all. All of these stories break our hearts. Why can't we stop them before they even start?

Bush has stated that abortion is okay in cases of rape and if the mother's health is in danger, if that's what you're referring to.

Hey happyfarah88: Doesn't it break a mother's heart to find out that her baby has Down's Syndrome or a heart defect, etc.? Should we kill those babies too? What if we've always wanted a boy and find out it's a girl?

well... abortion is like killing human being...
babies is human too you know...
they are innocent.... they didn't pick to there being pertilize inside of woman stomack...
so why should woman have abortion?
if they don't want the babay find some parents who can't have kids that who wants to have one...
i'm sure that lots of people who can't have child who are willing to adopt someone's baby.....
so that the innocent baby will have a chance to live his/her life...

Their stand is that all abortion is murder.
I don't necessarily agree, but that is what they say.
I feel people should take responsibilty for their actions, but abortion should be a last resort, not a form of birth control.

The republicans would probably argue that it is not the unborn child's fault and therefore it should get a chance to live.
