Ok so I have a black skirt and a brown shirt (not light or dark, regular brown) Do you think those colors would work together, or are they too dark, would putting a bright cami under the shirt help things out (its low neck)?

Brown and black are kind of dark but if you match it with a brighter cami. It could actually have some sequins on it or something like that. Actually if you have a bright shirt and some shoes to match it that would look really good. Hope I helped.

It depends on a few things. If the following are true:
1) If the brown shirt is on the tighter side, with short sleeves;
2) If the skirt isn't any longer than the knees;
3) If you really do have blonde hair, and it's on the longer side; or, if you have brown hair that is about shoulder length;
You'll look absolutely lovely. Try to accent it with something small and white, not a scarf or anything bulky like that. Whatever is to your taste.

it's ok pairing black and brown but you'd look too dull and it's good if you'd put light cami like beige or white, something that will break the dullness of the color, those colors will be good for professional get up (depends also on the style) and if you want to achieve a more formal look, leave it dark and pair it with matching shoes depending on the looks that you want to project, boots or flat shoes or slippers for casual and stilleto or sandals or anything with heels for formal

On What Not to Wear they are pairing charcoal grey with brown, which I thought was kinda odd, but they had a light blouse and it was actually intriguing. Try it on with the cami and see how it looks!

Absolutely! Very cool! Black goes with everything just like white goes with everything. One of my favorite outfits I wear is a black 3 quarter inch sleeve tight shirt and basic brown paints to work. I top it off by wearing black boots. Someone told me I looked very New York!
And Oh My God! These people have NO fashion sense. I thought I was bad!!!

Everything goes with black. Try mixing some white in to brighten up the outfit, maybe a scarf or white cami

If you think it looks good, go ahead and wear it. Rules are meant to be broken, and I think brown and black can look totally uber chic when worn the right way. Don't listen to broing old fashion rules. Follow your senses.

They may be in the neutral family...but unless it was truly fall fashion, it usually doesn't go together at all in any other season.

They not the best but okay....try something brighter with black and earthy with the brown.
