I've never been to a high school dance before, ones coming up, and I need help.?

Question

This is the first dance of the school year. I'm going to 10th grade guy but I've never been to a dance before. I'm just goin with friends. Can u tell me what dances r like. What do i wear, what do u do there other than dance, and will I have to dance. Also, in case I ask someone out, what do u do when slow dancing. And when theres like rock or something, what do u do? just jump up and down and wave ur arms or something? Thanks for answering.

If it's the first dance of the year, it's probably homecoming. Homecoming is formal, so you should wear a suit. If you have a date, it's really cute to match the color of her dress to your tie or shirt or something like that.
As for the dancing, just do what every other guy is doing. Which is probably standing around and talking. If a slow song comes on and you want to dance with a girl, ask her. She'll put her hands around your neck, and you'll put your hands around her waist/hips. I wouldn't really suggest putting your hands on her *** or anything like that.
My school's homecomings are always fun, but that's because I go with good groups and have good dates, so I suggest getting a date. Having a date makes the night so much more fun.

At the beginning of dances, rarely does anyone dance (mostly due to shyness!) Sometimes groups of young people dance together, and there are some couples that dance together. A good deejay will play some line dances like Cotton Eyed Joe, the Cha Cha Slide, the Macarena, or the Electric Slide. Just follow everybody else on those dances. Most dejays take requests. Wear neat clothes (no ripped jeans). Usually there are snacks there as well, and there are places where you can chat with your friends. You won't have to dance, but you may want to. Sometimes parents chaperone, and there are teachers there chaperoning as well. The best thing to do while dancing is to have fun, follow the beat, and be yourself.

Watch some videos for the dancing style. Slow dancing is barely moving anymore with your arms around each other. Clothes are so different in dif parts of the world. Some school dances wear just school clothes, some a little between school and church, and some go all out and are formal. You will need to find out what type dance this one is and then dress accordingly. Have fun!

Well I'll be darned, things ain't changed in all these yrs since I was a young lad invoking on my first DANCE WITH GIRLS!!!!! Son ,here is your chance to REALLY SHINE!!!!!! OK, you get there and the girls are dancing and most of the guys ae standing around. You and your buddies are standing there talking about what girls are hot and who can dance and who can't. You drink sodas like they are water and your nervous about asking a girl to dance. GO TALK TO THE GIRLS AND LEAVE YOUR BUDDIES ALONE!!!!! Small talk like say "HI" , wait for a responce and then if you are bold enough say" WOW YOU BABES ARE REALLY LOOKIN" GOOOD TONITE" Pick out one and the next slow dance ask her "well you want to dance?" All ya got to do is put your hands around her waist while she puts her hands around your neck and then you kind of rock side to side and in a slow circle around your partner and do not step on her feet!!!!! When a bunch of girls are together and they look at you and giggle DO NOT BE ALARMED OR EMBARRASED as this means that one or more like the way ya look!! Most important: try to relax, you'll dance better, look better, and have more fun. You can watch the way other people dance, but don't hang out in the shadows too long. If your group of friends is guys and girls you can dance together in a group, which will help your confidence. If your group is all guys, ask a group of girls to dance together, it takes the pressure off, but still gets you interacting.

Just be your self, the people at my school dont dress up that much. Just wear something somewhat nice, but not to nice. When you slow dance put your arms around the guy and sway with him. Just watch everyone else. Believe me its fun and soooo easy. (I'm shy and i can do it)

be yourself. that is SO important. make sure you look nice and ask ur buddies what they're wearing. slow dances...just put ur arm around her waist and move ur feet a little. its no biggie. if your not sure, just follow her lead. and make sure you dance. a dance is no fun if you dont dance. just look around and see how others are dancing. i hope u have LOADS of fun!!!

we don't dress up much, jeans and a casual shirt and sneakers. but dont come in dirty clothes, ick. wow um dancing just go with the flow. to slow dance you just pick a girl/ guy and put ur arms around them. dont worry about it just have fun.

i think you should some kind of pain killers before going. Not too many. Just enough to knock off the pressure. then just ask your friends what they are wearing. Then just go with the flow when you get there.
