Your true self is not an illusion. For instance, when you sit still and notice yourself thinking, noticing this thought and the next, and the next, a witness within you is watching you think. Meditators actually let this go on for quite a while, and in a long protracted silence, the time between thoughts expands, and periods of peaceful quiet happen and expand between the thoughts. At the same time, all the stories you tell yourself about yourself take a breather too. All that emotional charge an drama get dropped. So what is left is the witness in you watching all this happen - the story teller that is the mind is no longer telling stories about who you are. This deeper wtiness self is not illusory, but conscious and present. Very awake, but empty of the little stories we tell to give ourselves a "self", an identity. Still sitting, meditation, gives you an idea of how reality and self is manufactured by your own mind and its endless chain of thoughts.

it is not an illusion . the idea is generally subjective. when a famous person is being mimicked , the audience know who is being made fun of because the performer exagerates some known ' unique ' traits of the person being mimicked.
with 26 alphabets a lot of unique words , phrases , ideas are made. the elements in us are likely common. but the combinations are different and these combinations make people
unique.

The self is hard to encapsulate, and many misinformed people would call it the "soul". In reality, the 'self' is just the combination of memories, instincts, emotions, and other psychological elements that make up your perception and understanding of your existence. On a physiological level, it's represented by combinations of neurochemical concentrations and neuron bundles. If you can try to remember back to how you saw the world as a child versus how you see it now, the differences are the development in your 'self' that occurs over time.

Not at all.
It's only when the individual in question has disillusions on themselves, that it turns into a mirage.
What sets us apart from the rest is the "essence" of our being, our spirit/ soul that breathes and gives us life.
At the end of it all, although we may seem different culturally, race, religion... we're all in this life together, sharing the same goals; we all want the same things.
