Why are so many teens going out to drink?

I'm 14 and i don't like to drink..there are people at my school that do and i just don't know why they do it. What do you think about drinking? Underage? Have you eve been drunk?

I really didn't like to as a teen and even as an adult.

When I did, I did it because I got tired of being "Miss Goody goody" when I hanged out with my friends. Instead of doing the bad things they did, I did the minor things (like have a beer or drink). I sorta like the taste and all. But, I also put myself in danger a few times.

If going to drink. Then drink responsibly. Most teens don't. Most adults don't. They can only blame themselves when something goes wrong.

There is so much going on in colleges, and high schools with drinking, and wild parties, that I cant see any good that ever comes from it! Guys take advantage of you when your all drinking, and even there are so many DWIs, that it can pretty much mess up your life for years to come. If you don't like to drink, I think that is GREAT! There are plenty of years later, when you can social drink in moderation, but the way teens get carried away with it, it is simply not worth it!!! I know what goes on, I raised 3 teenagers, and have heard plenty of their stories, and you better off to stay away from it. Your smart, that you don't want to. When your drunk, you don't know what kind of fool you make out of yourself, or how others see you. If people could see themselves drunk, they would think twice. Take Care, and stay smart!!

I grew up in Germany and let me tell you something America's got it all mixed up. I think here we should make the legal drinking age 16 but to get your drivers licence it should be 18. This way teens know what their limit is and know the actual effects of alcohol before jumping in a car and attempting to drive. I have been drunk and actually because I was so young...I now hate drinking. I hate the taste...and the smell even!

Either peer pressure, they think it's cool, or they have problems and think drinking alcohol helps. I think it's wrong to drink underage, and personally I don't plan on ever drinking because of that aweful smell. I never drank before, so I have never been drunk. It's sad how they think they will be adults by acting like one.

My thoughts
Drinking isn't bad if it's done responsibly. Teenagers will always try to outdo each other and drink too much. I secure enough in myself and my friends that I can say, no more at any time without embarrassment.

At your age, I would say keep away from the alcohol and when people are drinking. They will pressure you greatly into drinking. It's either they like the control over another person or they want to drag you down with them.

I hate smoking and drinking and this is something I plan never to do. No matter how COOL it will make me look. Drinking is stupid and it's really dangerous, why do people still drink? I'm 14 also and I feel the exact same way.

If you don't like to drink don't. I know it sounds like a bad TV commercial but you can still hang out with the cool kids and not drink as long as you don't make a big deal about the drinking.
There will be plenty of time to become a drinker later in life.

Because there are idiots out there who will sell it to immature teens who think it's cool to drink. They do it to impress their friends. They do it because they're unhappy with their home lives. They do it because they do not understand the consequences.

they think it makes them look cool im like the same age but i only drink smirnoff cuz it taste good but its on 5% alcohol ive never been drunck cuz when i do have a smirnoff its only one i personally dont like the way beer and tequila taste

cuz they like to get drunk..some do it 2 fit in some just straight liek it..lotta teens smoke cigs n weed too..same deal
