you have hit the nail right on the head regarding liberals!
they do not make sense. in san francisco, they actually passed an ordinance or something goofy like that banning guns! the idiot liberal far left town actually overrode the constitution. i dont see how they get away with it, but there you have it.

liberals do not want us to have rights. they want to run things and tell us what to do where to live, what to eat, what medicine to take, what doctor to go to, what do drive, even what to eat and feed our kids. they even need to tell us when to run away from a hurricane (but they didnt!!!) and they speak of bush taking our rights away. just imagine if the libs were in charge. the damage they would do.

when did tom delay get convicted of anything? did i miss something?

below me, coragryph says states and cities have the right to make laws regarding owning guns. i do not see that anywhere where you refer us to. i see clauses with differeing opinions, exactly where do you read this?

Very, very few liberals want to "ban guns". At most they push for banning of *certain* weapons (as does everyone - I don't see conservatives pushing for home Nuclear Missiles or unrestricted access to tanks) and licensing for *some* weapons, like handguns.

Only a few fringe folk want to ban, say, hunting rifles - which are comparable to the types of arms available when the Constitution was written.

I've asked this question myself before, and come up with the same conclusion as you have.
The answer is that Liberals are hypocrites right down to the core, meaning that they support and defend with gusto, anything that supports their agenda, idealism, or point of view (i.e. unrestricted use of the 1st amendment with no repercussions), however, they vehemently attack any and all notions, ideas, laws or positions that do not agree with the aforementioned agenda. Unfortunately for them, these actions sometimes come in conflict with each other, which causes them to be in the position of screaming about how their 1st amendment rights are being restricted because they have to take their shoes off at the airport, while at the same time seeking to restrict, legislate, or outright repeal the 2nd Amendment. Thats where the hypocrisy comes in.
They support one section, yet oppose another section in the same document. Thats only one example.

And volleyballchick.....you had better not be pro choice, because if you are, you made my "hypocrite" point perfectly!

volleyballchick said:
"I don't want to ban guns at all. I just don't want criminals or IDIOTS to get their hands on them.
Why - because LIFE is also a guaranteed constitutional right"

Don't buy the lie - there has never been any attempt to "ban guns."

Certainly there have been attempts to limit the types of guns available for purchase. And I'm guessing you don't believe your next-door neighbor should have a right to install a cannon facing your house, so clearly you believe that some limit can be set.

Additionally, you should go read the whole 2nd Amendment. "A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." So what happens if (as it is today) a well-regulated militia is NOT necessary to the security of a free state, since we have a standing army? Well - that's a matter of some debate.

Liberals do NOT want to ban guns. This is more government manipulation of the media. Liberals want to keep their guns, as it's a constitutional right to do so, and keeps the government from doing to us what was done in Tienamin Square, where the government there rode roughshod over the unarmed populace, using tanks and soldiers to put down peaceful demonstrations against the government. The same demonstrations occure here, but mainstream media, owned by corporate america refuses to broadcast them, or anything truthful about what our government is doing to us, like taking away our rights and freedoms.

G.Bush said he supported a ban for assault rifles when he was on the campain trail for president. (see below)
I am a liberal and don't know of any other liberal that wants a blanket ban on guns. Maybe certain few types of guns, for certain individuals. Can you name one??

Why do neo-con right wing wacko's want to ban the right of convicted felons to cast a vote,
after they have served thier sentence?

In 2002, President Bush said that he favored reauthorization of the assault weapons ban. He promised to sign a reauthorization bill when and if it reached his desk. As the expiration date approached, ban proponents reminded President Bush of his promise and urged him to actively support the necessary reauthorization legislation. Gun-rights groups mobilized their members, but there was lingering suspicion about where the President really stood. The National Rifle Association withheld its endorsement of President Bush for re-election until after the ban had expired.

I am as liberal as anyone gets and I believe it is my right to own guns, I have had guns since I was 9 years old and I still have guns. I am 60 now, I think that the thought that liberals want to take your guns away is just some more repuglican hype to win votes. What I like about being a democrat is that I am allowed to think for myself and do not need the NRA or Faux News or Rush Limbaugh to think for me.

Because few people actually believe everything the constitution says. Most just try to make it 'living and breathing' to their will; whatever that is.

I speak or the rights of all American citizens.
And I have no desire to ban guns.
