Yes. the 60's version was done by The Troggs.
Tone Loc did an entirely different song with the same title in the early 90s.

The Troggs brought this forward in 1966 amid some controversy. It seems the lyrics were thought to be somewhat sexually explicit for the time. The song was written by actor Jon Voight's brother Chip Taylor (Angelina Jolie's uncle), and was originally recorded by Richard Burton's ex-wife, Sybil. Two of the most notable covers include Jimi Hendrix and Sam Kinison.

Yeah, this song was originally recorded by the Troggs in 1966 and so far no one had sung it more sexily & convincingly than lead vocalist Reg Presley of that group
Wild thing
You make my
Heart sing
You make
Everything
Groo-vy
Wild thing
Wild thing
I think I
Love you
But I wanna
Know for sure
So come on
Hold me tight
I love you
Wild thing
You make my
Heart sing
You make
Everything
Groo-vy
Wild thing
Wild thing
I think you
Move me
But I wanna
Know for sure
So come on
Hold me tight
You move me
Wild thing
You make my
Heart sing
You make
Everything
Groo-vy
Wild thing

Jimi Hendrix covered it at the Montery Pop Festival while he was on acid. He burns his guitar with lighter fluid and then smashes it.
