Do you ever find yourself judging people with tattoos or odd piercings or who smoke. I find the above three turn me off about a person. I wish I could overlook those things but when I see a tattooed person I automatically judge the person by their tattoos. And a smoker, a hate the stench and the fact they're killing themselves with Niccotine. And weird piercings are the same as tattoos. I'm sure many of these tattooed smokers are friendly and sweet but I find I judge them and shy away from the oppurtunity to know a possibly great person.
Also I'm a real estate agent and my office doesn't allowe smokers (cigars are okay), visible tattoos, or more than two piercings per ear and none for men. I think these people have harder times getting jobs and I'm not exposed to them as often in my natural surronding.

I didn't make up the cigar rule at my company. It's because after good deals a lot of the clients smoke cigars.

I live in Beverly Hills California not Utah! I am not biased, I want to know people with tattoos or who smoke better but I find I can't. I'm not a priss, the woman who is the head of my agency isn't either. We just need to have good clean apperances for our clients. Tattoos that aren't visible are fine as are piercings when they are taken out. You people are just as biased as I am against people in Utah (my best friend is from Utah) and people who are sheltered like me. Most of you sound like lovely people who I would probably enjoy getting to know, so maybe in the future I will judge a little less.

I have a few tattoo's, and I smoke. I am a professional IT specialist with a lovely family - I earn good money, I don't drink heavily, and I prefer a night in with a DVD and a hot chocolate than a beer and a fight.
Don't be so quick to judge. I have tattoos because I happen to like the way they look. I smoke because I started young and it's tough to quit - mainly because I enjoy it! I don't smoke in resturants or on a date with a non smoker. Most of the sweetest and nicest people I know have body art or smoke. Give someone a chance before you jump in with the stereotypes.
Also, no smokers but cigars are ok? What do they do, eat them?!
Just relax a bit and try not to be so prissy, you'll make good friends and find life a more varied and enjoyable place!

Sounds like your job is full of a bunch of unintelligent people. Do they all drive the same car or wear dorky polo shirts, let me guess 80's suits and shoes, LOL!
Tattoos are an art form that needs to be respected. As for the smoking, I bet the dopes you work with have other bad chemicals in their body and cigars are far more stronger smelling. Piercings, so what, we almost all have them. Do you live in some weird town in Utah where those creepy polygamy people live? I saw a show about that weird place. I do not know how you can live life like that. I would get a better job and become friends with a nice tattooed, or pierced person. Kindness comes from within your heart not how you look. Maybe visit California, good luck.

Geez, you wouldn't like me at all then - I participate in all 3 of those activities :). Luckily, I have a fantastic computer job (and make more than enough money) where they don't judge you or penalize you for piercings and/or tattoos - that would be like penalizing someone for their haircut, and I know that happens as well. As a matter of fact, I used to judge them too, before I got to know a couple of people who had them. I don't respect people who get tattoos or piercings because they're trendy - those are the people who will regret them a couple years down the line. But you might be surprised by the people who do have them, but have them hidden, because they got the tattoo or piercing for themselves, not to impress others. It's too bad you're biased against us, as you're losing out on knowing some really great and original people. Don't feel bad though, we don't judge you for judging us. Hopefully, you'll meet some really nice people that will change your mind, or you'll grow up enough to stop judging people by what's on the outside - it's what's on the inside that counts, isn't it?
Uh, you don't mind cigars? Is that because you think it's good for you? Or better for you than cigarettes?

I can a do see your point. I think smoking can be looked at as a sign of weakness on some level because it can be an addiction. I smoke from time to time when I'm out socially drinking, but I can stand it any other time. As far as tattoos, you have to understand that some people with them lived in a culture were it was highly acceptable, I have four my self, but are in places you can not see them if I don't want you too. I wear my tattoos as a badge of honor because I got them in the military two of which are military tattoos, probably would not have gotten them if I had not served as a US Marine. I did have my ear pierced when I was a kid, but grew out of that when I went into the military. Your right though some people I see, I wonder what kind of job they could possibly have with some of the outrageous piercings and tattoo I see.

If I did then I wouldn't be married. My hubby is tattood from the back of his head to his ankles. He is the most wonderful man I've ever known, aside from my daddy. He's sweet, compassionate, caring, gentle, loving. He makes it known every single day that I am the center of his universe, and he makes sure everyone else knows it to.
I'm from small town Texas, religious, wealthy, white stock. My parents flipped at first, but they love him as much as I do now. It's all about the inside, what's in their heart and soul. I have met some of the most amazing people through him, that look like him also. People I use to would not have given the time of day to.
You could be missing out on a lot of great people based on the preformed prejudices in your head.

I do not judge people by the way they look but by the way they conduct themselves. In their beliefs, morals, integrity etc.
I would make you a bet that most of those people that you are letting in your door and you are trying to sell real estate to.........have at least one tattoo and or piercing that you don't know about because you cant see them.
Which is wrong of you to judge the people that you can see their tattoos when there are so many people who have them in places that are not visible.
As for smoking....you allow cigars but not cigarettes? Why is that? Cigars smell worse then cigarettes do.
You are soooooooooooo wrong to be judging people like this.
There are a lot of highly successful men and women that have tats and piercings that probably make a lot more money then you do, and live in a lot nicer of a house then you do, drive a lot nicer of a car then you do.
Would you not let a popular country singer or rap artist in your place of business because they have tats?
You are losing a lot of money with your holier then thou attitude and judging of people.
And remember what the bible says? Judge not least ye be judged...................Think about it.

Well, I've got 8 ear piercings and I'm an OK person (I think), I'm reasonably intelligent and I try not to hurt anyone. I also used to have my nose pierced but it got sore so I had to remove it.
As for smoking, it doesn't bother me as long as people try to keep it away from me, I hate having people blow smoke in my face.

Yes of course we judge them. And they judge us back. The rich look down on the poor, the poor detest the rich...thin people pity the obese, and tall people look down on short folks. Skaters and dudes with iron hanging from their lips diss old people, and old people "tsk tsk" the younger generation. It's called prejudice. We all have some, and it's not inherently evil. We can't help how we feel about some things...but we can control our actions as well as our words. Where prejudice goes bad is when people get hurt, either physically or emotionally. Don't worry how you feel...just watch what you say.

Yes, I tend to agree. I like conservative, clean cut people with neat hair. Those are who I'd want to hire to do, say a sales job. I do know that some guys get tattoos in the service, which is understandable, but I don't like every punk who thinks he's tough with arm band tattoos.
