Just check your history(that little clock thingy with the green arrow in the taskbar)
Also, check the add/remove programs to see what's been downloaded lately.

You can see what Internet sites have been visited by checking the history - assuming that they have not clear it
Log on to the computer using whatever login ID the person you want to check on used
Open Internet Explorer
Click on View in the menu
Select Explorer bars
Click on History
A bar will apear on the left that will display all the website the computer has been to recently (if they have not cleared the history)

I do not know of a way to check IM history

Well, for the URL's it depends on what browser you use. If you are using FireFox/IE, just open up the program and look through the history lists to see what sites have been visited. For MSN chat logs, if you DO save them check them in My Documents. Get to your hard drive by typing My Computer in Internet Explorer then choosing your main hard drive.

If the person you are trying to catch knows anything about computers, then they probably deleted the history in the browser so you might not be able to tell. Go to the history tool bar button at the top of the browser. If it isn't there, right click an empty spot of the tool bar and click customize then at it. If there is nothing in the history then your better off trying to catch them next time using a key logger program. The link below will take you to a list of key loggers you can download. Find a freeware one and install it and it will do your spying for you.

How do you get to your hard drive? Open up my computer and pick it.

How do you find out about history? Check it, however if the person knows even a little, they would clear it.

I'd suggest you use a free key logging program to see what URLs are typed while you are away.

windows keeps a file called index.dat in the IE cache folder. You can use a program like WinSpy (freeware) which can be downloaded at:
http://www.softwarepatch.com/software/indexdat.html
This will show every site the browser's been to - even if they've deleted the cache & cleared the history (unless they've wiped the index.dat file).
A keylogger/monitoring program can log every move made - programs opened/chat/ IM/email/websites visited - including screenshots every few seconds if you like. you can find some shareware programs that suit your need at download.com. I use activity monitor (shareware) on my kids computer http://www.download.com/Activity-Monitor/3000-2092_4-10557970.html

You can check this in the browser history and also in you temporary Internet files. At the top of your browser click "tools" in tools click "Internet options" under the general tab click "setting" than click "view files"

There you can find sites that have been viewed as well downloaded.

Well, go to the internet, and click history. it will show all previously visited sites. you can also go to SystemSuite if you have it and look at firewall log. it will show if anything suspicious is being down/uploaded. also, go to documents and settings in my computer, and click cookies. most sites put them on your computer. most are harmless, but they can show you what sites you've visited. hope this helps you.

Go to Start, Find, Files and folders. Make sure you are checking your C: drive. And type in "History" and click the history folder.
